New Lexmark printer X5470 power inverter lights as does a new one, but on switch fails to turn printer back on after failing between print tasks.

1.Sorry, it is three years old and has been used six months a year for each year, so it can't go back to the store.

    2. It will not power up stand-alone or when connected to the Mac running Snow Leopard. It worked fine with some newer software but acts like the power switch is not getting juice! The two inverters used both come on green but do not work no matter plug routine comes from Manila.

    3. Is there a way to take it apart and fix it? Here in Puerto Rico? Regards, keepontryon32@aol.com

The inverter supplies a small board with a reduced voltage it then goes into a rectifying & smoothing circuit which drops the voltage to 12v or in some cases 5v.

You will need to gain access to the pcb, which involves stripping down the machine, to check that the protection fuse is still intact

If the fuse has blown then I would replace it and power the printer back up, if the fuse holds then you are away if it blows again the printer is toast and I would look for another one

It is not practical to repair Lexmark units as the cost of the pcb is in lots of cases as much as a new printer

Lexmark make their cash on supplying ink not machines

Make sure your printer is only hooked up to a working wall outlet. You can also try another working USB port on your computer just to be sure its not the USB port making the printer act up.

If you do these two things and the problem still persists I would bring the printer back to the store since its still new and get another printer.

Scanner stating cannot retrive application list for my lexmark x5470

A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer from your computer. Reboot your pc. Unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to your computer. Then try to print again once the computer fully recognizes the USB connection.

If that doesn't help, try the steps below:

1. Disconnect the printer from your computer.

2. Rebrick (pull out power supply, black box where the power cord is plugged in at the back of the printer, and put it back after 30 seconds).

2. On your computer, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes.

3. Delete the Lexmark print object.

4. Reboot your pc.

5. When your pc turns on, reconnect the printer.

6. Wait until your pc fully recognizes the USB connection. To check, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes. If you see a new Lexmark print object in the list, then try to print again.

You may also try to update your printer driver by visiting the Lexmark website at http://bit.ly/dbCiI6. Select your operating system, download and execute the file.

My lexmark x5470 does not turn on, and only a red light bright inside near the print injectors. Thank You.

Try to rebrick you printer by pulling out power supply, black box where the power cord is plugged in at the back of the printer, and put it back after 30 seconds. This will reset your printer.

If that doesn't help, try to plug your printer into a different known working power outlet.

My X5470 makes a banging noise, and will not print. I put in brand new OEM cartridges, and it does not help. Is it dead?

Remove the cartridges from the printer. Close the cover. Then unplug the power adapter from the printer. The power adapter is the black box behind the printer where the power cord is attached. Wait at least 30 seconds before plugging it back in. When the printer turns back on and it's still making the banging noise, then it's a hardware issue in the printer. If not, reload the cartridges. If problem persists, it might be that encoder strip that's causing the problem. If this is the case, I strongly suggest you contact Lexmark Technical Support to further investigate the problem. Thanks.

I installed a new cartridge and I keep getting an error message to remove the tape, which I did before the install. The alignment test fails.

Printer normally does the alignment printing whenever you do something on the cartridges (removing, reseating or replacing). Try to remove the cartridges from the printer. Clean the nozzles using a damp paper towel, if necessary. Close the cover. Unplug the printer from the power source. Plug it back in after 10-15 seconds. When it's ready, insert the cartridges. Let the printer print the alignment page again. Let it finish the whole page without cancelling it.
Check if the problem persists.

Lexmark X5470 powers on and off constantly

I encountered the exact same problem with my Lexmark X5470. After a power failure on Aug 20, the printer would reboot itself every few seconds. I unplugged the power cord and/or adapter for a few minutes and after replugging, it worked fine. However, the problem returns after I power off the printer and then turn it back on, in which case I unplug again for a few minutes. Hope this helps.

Trying to scan and the display says ''Cannot retrieve application list''. What does that mean and how can I get rid of it?

When all else fails, turn it off an on. Lexmark web site suggests:
  1. Unplug the power adapter from the back of the printer.
  2. Plug it back in after 30 seconds.
  3. Submit the scan job again.
If that doesn't work, reply back with your connection (usb or wireless.) Also will it print?
