Question about Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

My Yamaha Receiver got really hot after playing it all night for a party and now it wont stay on for more than 3 seconds before it automatically cuts off. I've unplugged all speaker wires and everything, and tried doing the unplugging it for 30 seconds but it still turns off after 3 seconds.Any solutions that i could do to fix it without taking it somewhere?

You will need to open the receiver and check out the internal power wire connections.that power wire will be connecting to the circuit board. there are two possibilities and one problem. the problem is sure shot overheating.and this overheating is causing short in the receiver. 1) now either the power wire is got heated and the wire connection are getting loose and so it works for few seconds but due to loose wire the unit shuts off. 2) or the other possibility is that the wire is perfectly ok bit the board to which the wire connects on that board there are some tiny electronic component any of those component have got burned out and got bit weak so unit starts for few seconds but because the components are weak the unit cannot remain on for more time.the components will look bit leaked from top or bit bulged from its regular size or sl.light black color burn marks on the components and that has to be replaced by soldering iron. you can get this faulty components , replacement from either the local electronic hardware store or from on line sites like www.radioshack.com This will help. Thanks please keep updated.please do rate the solution positively .thank you for using fixya

My yamaha stereo receiver powers down with in seconds it wont stay on

there is most likely a short in the amplifier section that needs to go in for service. Try disconnecting all speaker wire from the back of the receiver and power it on that way. If it stays powered on, then you have a shorted speaker or wire. If it still shuts down, then it needs service

Well - you may have. BUT try this. Turn the volume all the way down, disconnect the speakers, and power it up. If it comes up OK, you've got a fried speaker (or bad wiring). If not - yep, you fried it.

The click is the autoprotection relay that should be allowing the amp to stay up. Try this... turn the speakers off if you can, or disconnect them then try again. Safety shutdowns are usually either heat or short circuits in the output stages. It doesn't stay up long enough to get hot so...

If it stays up withou the speakers on then the problems is probably external and easy to isolate.

Let me know.

Yamaha rx-v461 not working

you have a faulty circuit somewhere, whether its in speaker wiring, or power source, i dont know, but your reciever has an automatic circuit breaker in it for protection, and a faulty circuit will trip it, i would assume it is a power source problem since it wont turn back on, check wiring, plugs and look around, and smell for burnt, or hot components.

Will not stay on

Your receiver is going into protection mode.
Need to know what type of reciever. In the self diagnostic mode there are code that will tell you why it is cutting off. If it is as you say you, as for the fall, you may just be able to reset it in diagnostic mode and everything will be fine. You can search for the service manual online. It will explain the diagnostics and the protection mode in detail.
