Try uninstalling the printers software and drivers. restart your computer and install them again. restart your computer and bam it should work.

Unistall delete old drivers from system before installing the full driver and software package (which includes MFC suite), brother have a unistall driver program on web site
MFC suite will enable scanning etc, drivers don't do that
