Question about Fuji FinePix F20 Digital Camera
My camera works fine when the charger is plugged but the battery won't charge. I bought a new battery assuming that was the problem and it will not charge either. Also, the charging light does not go on on ther camera when the charger is plugged in. Any ideas?
I had the same problem!! Try flipping the battery around and then charging it. It worked for me! Hope this helps!

I have a Fujifilm FinePix F-20 which charges via build-in inside the camera. Now, it won't charge and red LED only blinks (instead of steady red which means charging). Bought new battery and still the same. Changed to different USB charger and still the same.
Then, I took out a cutter knife - not to cut but just to scratch the 3 copper terminal contacts inside the camera. While I was at it, I also scratch the battery contacts also so I cannot say for sure which one was the problem. Good news is now red LED is on steady when being charged. Then, I unplugged the DC plug to the camera and it actually showed the battery is charged - not like the empty battery icon like before.
P.S. I also have a Fujifilm Finepix J20 which the battery can go in anyway you insert except that only one way will create contact and work. It is a stupid design. When you insert the battery, the edge with only one contact (instead of a double at the opposite side) should be close to the outer edge of the camera.

My factory reconditioned F20 outfit won't properly properly charge the battery in the camera. Everything seemed to be working but the battery would take very little charge and expired in minutes. Charging in the camera isn't that bright an idea anyway, so before I fought it out with Fuji over the warranty, I decided to see if everything else worked OK. I got a $10 external charger for the NP70 battery on EBay. While I was at it I got 2 spare batteries to keep charged, these were like $6 each and boasted higher capacity. Fantastic success. I may still fight out the issue with Fuji but I can use this great little camera in the meantime. I may never need the spares though, the original battery is just fine and has lasted longer between charges than I expected. Maybe this will work for your camera. Another thing I would look at is the battery contacts in the camera. If these have been bent or are not making contact you would have exactly that problem. The battery is fairly heavy and a good bump on the bottom could bend the contacts.

My sister's Z5 was having the same problem. I realized she had the battery in upside down. There are no guides on the battery to insure that it goes in the right way.
If the battery is in correctly, and it is still not charging, I would call Fuji to get it repaired.

I looked up this question with the same problem and while the battery was placed in with the right side in, the three metal tabs weren't on the right side with the three metal chargers- so I had to spin it around the other way...i hope i'm explaining this right...now it's charging! I am so glad. This camera is excellent.
