You are missing a Direct X control that the player is looking for - check your security settings to make sure you are not blocking a key download. :-)

Can not sync my ipod to my itunes keeps saying unknown error 1437.. dont know what to do next

Hi smdente... Anyone having problems with the error "1437" I have been searching the internet high and low and have done so much and I believe I have finally found a way to fix it. "1437" is the error where your ipod just wont register as an ipod and when it finally does it will begin to restore but corrupt halfway through saying error 1437.

First of all I got this code which you save in Notebook as appleipod.bat

regsvr32 /s softpub.dll
regsvr32 /s wintrust.dll
regsvr32 /s dssenh.dll
regsvr32 /s rsaenh.dll
regsvr32 /s gpkcsp.dll
regsvr32 /s sccbase.dll
regsvr32 /s slbcsp.dll
regsvr32 /s mssip32.dll
regsvr32 /s cryptdlg.dll
regsvr32 /s initpki.dll

You save as that to your desktop exit out of it then double click on it. A black screen will come up, load, then disappears.

Reset your unplugged ipod by pressing the center and menu button, once the apple logo appears press the center and play/pause button until it does into disk mode. Once in disk mode plug it into your computer and wait for itunes to register it and restore! KABOOM! fixed.. well, at least for now. I dont know if this was just by chance but this last step with the resetting your ipod didnt work the first time for me so I continued my google quest and on another website there was one more step. To have you ipod off and fiddle with the "hold" button the the top left of the ipod while off and then start the steps. It could have just been by chance but it worked so do try. My original 80GB Ipod gets an error code 1437

This symptom may be caused by an issue with the digital signing ofWindows XP drivers. Following the steps below to reregister several.dll files mentioned below may resolve this issue. Before proceedinghowever, try to restore the iPod using the latest version of iTunes.. If you are unable to restore it or the symptom reappears, then follow the steps below:

  1. Disconnect the iPod from the computer and close iTunes.
  2. Highlight all of the following 10 lines of text that begin with regsvr32 and then choose Copy from the Edit menu of your web browser: regsvr32 /s softpub.dll

    regsvr32 /s slbcsp.dll
    regsvr32 /s mssip32.dll
    regsvr32 /s cryptdlg.dll
    regsvr32 /s initpki.dll

  3. Open the Notepad program by navigating to:
Start > All Programs > Accessories > Notepad
  4. In Notepad, choose Paste from the Edit menu. Note: make sure that the text that appears in Notepad is the same as what is shown above.

What it meant to say was "NO FILE that I know how to play". Did you create .SMV files from your original videos? It's the only video format your player understands.

Converter software came with your player; if you don't have it, you can download version 4.1.0.0 of the SigmaTel transcoder here:
http://www.mympxplayer.org/smv-convert-tool-smv-transcoder-40-thu-apr-17-2008-727-am-df829.html

or here:
http://www.trekstor.de/en/service/downloads.php?produktgruppe=5&produkt=73&sprache=none

(Mac & Linux users - you're on your own. Sorry.)

The executables in these archives are identical. Here are their signatures for the cautious (which is everyone, yes?):
MD5 file
77324c8e0eaf4c8e6d40a9b079cb8a58 DevIL.dll
d0aaae16ba162dd89d646887f1539855 gdiplus.dll
cdadb36a554694ec6d723ab33088a93b ILU.dll
fcefe07a8a97e5e92cf2ca52c69a36ad ILUT.dll
831d5a068abbb4a1845ec210dcf9b791 libsndfile.dll
f35a584e947a5b401feb0fe01db4a0d7 MFC71.dll
86f1895ae8c5e8b17d99ece768a70732 msvcr71.dll
5c51a668e081483a9741697038accc77 smv.dll
4140ff75fe581c8a16cbfb897a593edc video2smv.exe

SigmaTel's website (http://www.sigmatel.com/) is currently missing in action (damn all Chinese manufacturers anyway). If it reappears, you should also be able to find the transcoder there.
