Ok i have an unusual problem i have a hi grade laptop and it keeps going off and sometimes it will not come back on no matter how many times i press on off button .When it does this the wireless light stays stuck on. I have stripped it down to see if i can see if it is shorting out but i can not see a problem. Also when it does boot up sometimes you only have to touch laptop and it just goes off any ideas on this one?

Can you give details about make and model of laptop, any additional or upgraded parts/accessories. These will help diagnose the problem better. Thanks, Sean

I have a problem with my hi-grade 8615 laptop, i dont know much about laptops. when ever i turn it on the laptop sounds like its turning on and then it sounds like its shutting down. there are 2 lights that turn on and when the laptop sounds like its shutting down 1 of the lights turns off, the screen doesnt turn on whist this is happening. but sometimes it does turn on but if u move the laptop slightly it either crashes and you have 2 turn it off and on or it will restart itself, i havent a clue why it is doing this and if anyone could help me i would be very grateful, the people i have spoke to have said it could be a lose connection or something to do with the battary or power pack...would putting my laptop back to factory settings help at all?

First try taking out the battery, turn on your computer and the try wiggling the adapter near the DC jack. If it powers off doing this then you need your jack replaced. If you are sure this is not the problem and you are comfortable with it take the motherboard out and remove all extra pieces from it. Only attach what is necessary to be able to test it (power strip if there is one, lcd, keyboard, and mem if you have no onboard memory) then plug it in and turn it on. If wiggling the jack doesn't power it off try taping on the larger square chips(BGA's)See if you can get it to power off. DO NOT REMOVE THE CPU. If you have more than one stick of mem take one out and test them one at a time. If you have more than one slot test both slots. If you cannot get it to shut off add the extras one by one testing after you add each piece. Try the wireless card first. If you do this correctly you may be able to figure out what piece is causing the problem. Make sure you are careful not to touch the keyboard or anything else conductive to the motherboard while it is powered on. I don't know what level you are at in respects to knowledge of computer so I have to ask. Are you absolutely sure it is powering off? Sometimes if the lcd is going out it can appear to some as if it has turned off. If you have any questions please ask. This kind of troubleshooting can be a difficult task for most.

I have trouble starting my van when its is cold. after that its fine. the colder it is the longer it takes to start.

Not an unusual problem.....

Most important- tune-up! Make sure your plugs, distributor cap and rotor (if so equipped), air and fuel filter are OK and have been changed (at minimum) according to your owner's guide.

If your vehicle cranks over slow when cold-starting, consider a new battery. In cold weather, batteries lose efficiency, and older batteries lose more power than new ones.

Next... Gas - the fuel in cold weather states has a formula change in winter months to lower emissions- sometimes going to the next higher grade of fuel (example: from regular to mid-grade) helps.

If you have a garage, keeping the vehicle inside makes a huge difference with cold weather starting.

Keep your fuel tank full. Running the tank down and leaving it near empty most of the time allows condensation, which will result in getting water in your fuel, leading to hard starts and poor performance, and the increased risk of "rusting through" which will cause a leaky fuel tank.

Dell inspiron 1521 error code 2000-0146.. computer keeps freezing before it even loads up the window....

Hi eodnd119,

That's not a good error code. That is telling you your hard drive is bad.
You likely have a drive where sectors are going bad - sometimes they may be readable, sometimes not. But it's just a matter of time before the drive fails completely.
Replace the hard drive.

Good Luck,

I am trying to Downgrade an ASUS R1F from Vista Pro to XP Pro. How do I get the tablet to boot from the CD

Hi, if you have computer knowledge, the easiest thing to do is to take the laptop sata hard drive out and connect it to your computer with your sata cables and power and boot your computer up and the laptop drive will be a slave drive then. Now you can back it up if you want and then format it.

Now turn your computer off and put the hard drive back in your laptop. Because there in no Operating system the laptop will ask for a boot device. Now you will be able to boot from your xp cd.

I don't know why but I have found most laptops and computers with vista don't like to boot from a cd and over ride the boot options and go directly into vista which makes it hard for people who want to down grade to XP.

Why someone would want Vista beats me.

You can also load up into bios and change your boot options in there. If not already set as first boot device to be you cdrom/dvd you can change it to be. But like I said most of the time with Vista it doesn't matter! Vista will still boot first. But it is worth trying.

Error of send and dont send.

Does this happen every time that you do that? If so, try to uninstall the program, then re-install it. It's not unusual to get an error report popup every once in a while, just ignore them, as long as they don't happen all the time. Sometimes they result when trying to do something too fast.
If you want to turn off error reporting go to:
start>settings(classic view)>control panel>system>then click on the "advanced" tab>then click on "error reporting" in the lower right handside of the "system properties" box. Select "disable error reporting", then click ok, apply, then ok again.
If this is a recurring problem, then post back with more details.

How do I stop my laptop A3A from the screen going blank and loud music . I have to press any key to stop it and return to the programme I`m on. In 30 to 40 minutes this could happen 2 or 3 times Ann...

Hi Ann,

Laptops have options to prolong battery life that can sometimes be a bit tedious. No problem, to change the settings though.
Do this:
  • Click START
  • Click Control Panel
  • Double-Click Display
  • Click on the Screen Saver Tab
  • In the Monitor Power box Click the Power Button
  • Under the Power Schemes Tab, in the Power Schemes box, Click the Power Schemes drop down menu.
  • Click on 'Always On'
  • At the bottom, Click on OK
  • At the bottom, Click on OK
Keep in mind, after doing this, the conservation of battery power is no longer automatic. It's just as easy to change back, if necessary.

Any problems, additional questions click on the ASK button.
