If u haven't already , you may need to adjust your router settings
1. enable UPnP
2. enable DMZ
3. change ip settings from dynamic to static
4. check out game sites as may have to port forward some ports

when playing online and the game freezes this could be caused by lag in the network connection. if you internet is slow, or someone you are playing with is slow, this will cause some issues in game play Lag Wikipedia the free encyclopedia
It's a semi-long process. Do you have a wireless router hooked up to your computer? If so just go to settings then network settings in your ps3 menu. If you have the wireless router then put wireless connection and its straight forward from there. If it is a wired connection and hooked to your ps3 than put wired connection and again its straight forward from there.
This may be caused by inputting the incorrect information when setting up your internet connection. Alternatively or it may be down to internet lag due to congestion with your provider or a weak wireless connection.
It is advisable to go through and recheck your internet settings. See links on how to do this.
A cable modem & a router are two different things. You can pick up a "Cisco 'EtherFast' cable/DSL" (wired or wireless) router at Wal Mart for $35. But you need both a modem & router to get your PS3 up & running on the web. Once you get on, you'll need to set up a "PlayStation" account. Unlike the Xbox 360 Live network, PlayStation is free of charge. It's a very user-friendly interface, so you shouldn't have any problems there. Cisco will give you live customer service to walk you through hooking up your router. Please let me know you make out. If I can be of further assistance, please let me know. Good luck, bro.
If your PS3 is Networked upto Your PC to use the internet connection, You have to allow the PC to share its Internet connection with yout PC, Do this By going into Network settings, Checking the properties of your LAN card in your PC. and clicking on, "share my internet". This should alleviate that problem..
If your PS3's Wired connection isnt working. but your PC one is, Try moving your PS3 Lan cable into one of the other Free LAN Ports (if available) or Try Switching the PC cable over to the PS3's Port in the Router, and Visa-Versa !
ok guys ive found the solution. i have a sprint usb aircard and had the same problem for like 6 months and just yesterday i found out how to make it work.
1) connect laptop/ CPU to internet as usual* 2)go to control panel 3) go to network and internet connections 4)go to network connections 5) next tight click on you internet provider thing. and go to properties. 6) click on advanced tab 7) then just follow the instruction to make it a shared connection and thats all to it.
fyi: its probably going to lag alot if your not in a good reception area. other than that the lag is bearable.
