No sound on our computer

We just were given my parents old computer. They had someone clean everything off of it but unfortunately whatever he did caused it to not have sound anymore so we can not play cds or hear anything on it. What do I need to do to get it back?
Thanks,

Rob

Most commonly this is a driver issue. What operating system are you running? (Windows XP?, Vista?). Many common drivers can be loaded automatically through Windows Update (having the latest service pack/updates is important for many reasons). If you have the latest service pack and all updates already,.. please (Click Here) to find download instructions and download the appropriate driver for your PC.

Hello,

For the Dell Dimension 4550 there's a drivers list, see next page:
http://support.euro.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?os=WW1&catid=-1&dateid=-1&impid=-1&osl=EN&typeid=-1&formatid=-1&servicetag=&SystemID=DIM_PNT_P4_4550&hidos=NAA&hidlang=en&TabIndex=

The drivers list is for the Operating System XP.
Detect the hardware, have a look in the hardware manager.
Soundcard and cd/dvd drive need a firmware driver to get it functional.
Download the matching driver for your hardware.

When not knowing what driver to install, first download all audio and
cd/dvd drivers to a location on the computer, e.g. C:\DRIVERS .
After the download, update drivers in the hardware manager with the listing in the DRIVERS map.

When needing more help, just add a comment in this thread.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

DX4380G wont power on

The computer power switch may be faulty - they often have a fragile plastic link which fails.
People say they are built to fail just when they are out of Warranty.
It may well be a power pack failure in the comp - they are not too expensive but need to be fitted by a pro.
If you are in the UK you can still return to the seller or maker and say 'This computer failed after only 13 months (or whatever) and so is NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE'

Need to set parental controls on alienware m14x

Activate Parental Controls b> Computers are great tools that help us in work, education and entertainment. They're versatile machines and provide great benefits, but that versatility opens the door for users to access inappropriate content. Microsoft Windows offers a number of controls to restrict or entirely block access to many content types. Unfortunately, the Parental Controls feature is not available in Windows XP or earlier systems, but Windows Vista and 7 have the utility preinstalled. You can set up the controls in a few steps and help protect anyone that uses your computer.

Click the "Start" button in the lower left corner of your screen and then click "Control Panel." Click "Control Panel Home" on the left of the Control Panel window, if it is not already selected. Click "Set Up Parental Controls for Any User." Select the account for which you want to set up controls. This is the "User Controls" section of that account. Select the "On, Enforce Current Settings" option on the left side of the window Click "OK." This activates whatever settings are currently on the computer. Parental Control Settings b> Access the "User Controls" section of the account you want to restrict. Select the type of control you wish to alter or put into effect. Your options include "Time Limits," "Games" and "Allow and Block Specific Programs." Windows Vista also has "Windows Vista Web Filter." Restrict when an account may be used under "Time Limits." You can set what hours the account is available for each day of the week. Set game rating limitations. These settings allow you to select which game rating is the highest permissible for that user. Restrict certain programs. You can block the use of whatever programs you prefer, such as video games or Web browsers. Set Internet restrictions. In Windows Vista, you can decide how strict to make the restriction level immediately; in Windows 7, you must first install the free Windows Live Family Safety 2011 suite http://explore.live.com/windows-live-family-safety?os=other Click the "OK" button in the "User Controls" section once you are finished with the control setup.

Im the parent and forgot the pass code to the parental control on my sons xbox how can i recover it

This passcode unfortunately will stay until the system settings are reset. The best advice that can be given is to call xbox technical support. They can give you the unique code that is used to reset the system settings on your xbox.

Got emagic a 6 2 m, worked under win xp (x86), won't work under win 7 (x64). the problem is: damn 64bit system.. didn't find drivers von win x64. anyone an idea?

Yea unfortunately that card is too old to be supported by vista or windows 7. Because you are running a 64-bit system there is no way to make it work without someone developing 64-bit drivers for it. Given the age, its highly unlikely.

I'm wonder how old you are and why your computer has Parental Control Software. You're not asking us to go over your parents heads and remove something that they put on a computer that they gave you - are you?

Im 12 years old and i cant find my wep key on a packard bell computer. can someone giv me a step by step walkthrough to help.i need the wep to connect to the computers wifi on the ds

I would be suprised if you are using WEP. Most modern networks use either WPA or WPA2(which the DS does not support unfortunately) as WEP is older and insecure.

My suggestion would be to contact your parents or whoever manages your network and ask them how your network is configured.
