You need a motor coupling.
To repair it, depedning on where you live, could cost you $90-$200
It's probably worth it. I happened because you overloaded it. It's a good washer, that you have.

This is for an LW7503W2B washer. We have water on the floor during agitate with large loads. The water is comming over the edge of the tub. I have noticed the tub rotates in what I would call a slow...

I had the same problem. You need a brake kit. it holds the drum still while in the agitate mode. the centrifical force of the water during that slow spin is causing the water to spill over the top of your drum. easy and cheap fix.

Tub filled with water, Lr code

To pump out the excess tub water while failing to complete spin cycle;

Enter Service Mode by simultaneously pressing and holding the Enviro Plus and Spin Only keys for three seconds or the display reads “00”

Pressing the Delicates key will lock the lid. Now press the Presoak key the drain pump will turn on. Stop with off button or hit the Presoak key.

This process is documented in the Service Manual. I would go to page 16 of the SM lower right hand part of page, Board Output Test and turn on the drain pump in service mode to pump out the tub.

If I could ask you to do a little troubleshooting;

It sounds like the wash/agitate cycle completes and you enter into the spin cycle of the selected wash cycle is that correct. When the wash cycle fails does the Cycle Status LED indicate that the washer is in the Spin cycle?

With a empty wash basket no wash load in the basket and you start a Spin Only cycle will the Spin Only cycle complete?

If the washer will start the cycle do you hear and loud Spin Only cycle noise such as metal against metal grinding noise?

With the washer off and no clothes in the wash basket can you open the lid then Spin the wash basket as fast as you can in the CCW direction the only direction. The wash basket should spin CCW several rotations and coast down to a smooth stop dose it?

I’m checking for Outer Tub increased bearing resistance…..Rich

Ge top load washer will not agitate

Hi,

If your washer won't drain, check these:

It spins, but doesn't pump
It doesn't spin or pump
It pumps, but the water returns

It spins, but doesn't pump
If your washer spins but doesn't pump the water out, the drain line is probably clogged. In many washers, a small sock or other piece of clothing can get between the clothes tub and the outer tub that holds the water. If the clothing gets between the tubs, it may then get into the drain hose that's attached to the pump--or even into the pump itself. If it's in the pump, you need to remove the hoses from the pump and pull the item out.

To remove the sock from the outer tub port, open the washer's main access panel and remove the large-diameter rubber hose that connects the pump to the bottom of the outer tub. Then, using needle-nose pliers, try to grab and remove the clothing through the port.

Sometimes you can't remove the stuck clothing from below. Then you have to remove the agitator, top of the outer drum shield, and inner clothes tub. This isn't easy to do--and you may need special tools--so you might be happier getting a qualified appliance repair technician to do the job.

If the drain line isn't plugged, the problem may be with your pump. Even if the pump appears to be turning, the internal impeller may be broken. If so, you need to replace the pump.

It doesn't spin or pump
If your washer doesn't spin or pump water out but the motor is running, your washer probably has a frozen pump pulley. If so, you need to replace the pump. To check the pulley, remove the pump from the washer and try to rotate the pulley manually. If it doesn't turn freely--if it's frozen or stiff--replace it.

It pumps, but the water returns
If the water that pumps out of the machine goes back into the machine after the spin cycle, your washer may be siphoning the water from a laundry tub that has a slow drain, back into the washer. The usual remedy for this is to improve the draining of the laundry tub. (Is something stuck in the drain?) Also, check for these problems:

If the drain hose reaches more than about 4 inches into the laundry tub, cut off the excess.

If your drain hose is lower than the washer's cabinet, install an air gap/siphon break assembly.

Good Luck!!

Washer will spin but not very fast

It is very likely that the transmission needs to be replaced/repaired.

Inside most top loading washer transmissions is a small part that lets the motor drive the transmission in either the agitation mode or the spin mode. When this part shifts back and forth into the position for wash or spin, it can get broken.

When it locks the transmission into the spin position, the motor and transmission can now spin the wash tub to help remove excess water from the clothes. When this lock breaks, the washer will still wash and agitate and the motor will still pump out the water in the washer, but without the fast spinning of the tub, clothes will not be damp dry enough to be put into the dryer. Sometimes the unit will spin a little, but not nearly enough to really remove water from the clothes, especially if you're doing towels and other heavy items, etc.

The part itself isn't much money, but the problem is that the repair isn't easy for even a good DIY'er to perform, as you have to remove the agitator, wash tub, tub seal boot, and the transmission from the cabinet just to get ready for the repair process.

IF you can even get the repair part for the broken transmission (difficult as most manufacturers only let authorized service dealers buy these sub-components these days), it will be VERY messy to disassemble the transmission and remove all the oil and broken metal pieces from the transmission lock part and then completely clean out the inside of the transmission housing replace the gear assembly and put in the new lock piece, plus add back new, clean appliance trans oil and a new end seal on the transmission housing.

When I first started out as a service tech, we used to rebuild the washer transmissions on used customer "trade-ins" when we had nothing else scheduled, so we could resell the used appliances and make a few bucks.

Bottom line is that for all the time, mess and expense you're going to have to go through, it is probably best to buy a new washer. Especially if your washer is more than 10 years old, since the tub is probably starting to get rust spots, etc.

Maytag washer. Model PAV1000AWW: It won't spin. Agitates OK. Water pumps out OK. Just won't spin. Makes no unusual noise. Bad transmission?

If the motor is spinning fast, but the tub is not spinning, then it is the transmission. If the motor is not spinning, then the high speed windings of the motor are shot and it needs a new motor.

Washer go though all cycles but no spin

the motor operates off the timer cams inside the timer. in the wash mode the agitator turns in one direction. when it calls for tub empty the motor reverses direction and actuates the pump. at this stage the tub should spin. sounds like the timer is bad for this one function. timers cost around $120. (mechanical timers)
