Question about E-Machines eMachines Desktop PC

1 Answer

PC turns off while I am in middle of anything. I have to unplug the tower for a few minutes; plug it back in and she starts up. I get a DEL to reset date and time. PC starts up and than its frozen. Have to Power Off @ Tower to start up again. This may happen several times during the day.

The internal battery on the motherboard could very well be faulty losing all the stored memory. Do check on the back of the tower when it shuts off to see if the power lite is still on. If the entire supply shuts down, then supply could be faulty. But I am thinking you either have a faulty memory chip or the internal clock battery is dying out.

Hook up to home pc

Today's laptops and desktop computers are more user-friendly. As more people start use computers, operating systems, software and hardware accessories are coming with better instruction manuals and streamlined interfaces. Here are a few basic steps to hook up your computer no matter which brand you bought.

Connect the power cable to the back of the computer tower. The male end of this plug is often on the computer, but it is recessed into the casing. Once this power plug is connected, you don't want to plug it into an outlet until the entire computer is set up. Attach the monitor cables to the back of the monitor and then to the back of the computer tower. This cable will probably be the VGA type, which has a wide set of prongs in the middle and two screws on the outside. Be sure to twist the screws in to ensure the cable has a solid connection. Secure the monitor's power cable to the back of the monitor and then plug it into an outlet or power strip. Attach the mouse to the USB port on the back of your keyboard. The keyboard then plugs into another USB port on the back of the computer tower. Turn on the computer and the monitor.

If the computer powers up but the monitor doesn't display anything, make sure the VGA monitor cable is secured. If the status light on your monitor doesn't turn on, check the power cable connection. Check that the mouse and keyboard work once the computer turns on. Now you can hook up other devices, such as a printer or a web cam. A printer often can connect to a USB port and also may have its own power cable; a web cam usually just plugs into a USB or firewire port.

How do I get my computer restarted from a black screen when ctrl+alt+del does not work

Hold down the Ctl + Alt+Del keys together for about 15 seconds, this should put the system into a state that allows you to disconnect the power for about 3 minutes.
Plug the power back in and re-boot in "Safe Mode", this will flag up any errors and more than likely repair the system files as it starts up.
If still nothing listen for error codes when it is powered up, this will give a rough indication as to what is faulty, VGA, RAM, Sound card etc.
Was anything being changed or unplugged/plugged in just before it went wrong?

Hope this helps.

Hi i have an acer aspire an my mouse has just froze on the middle of my screen i cannot figure out why please help

Here's a few troubleshooting steps. If it's a USB mouse, unplug it and plug it back in. If serial, reboot the PC. You can also unplug the USB mouse and try a different port. Try plugging in a different mouse as well.
Finally, hit CTL+ALT+DEL and check your applications tab to see if any program is not responding. Check Processes to see if anything is eating up your CPU. Do this by clicking on CPU once, then again. The most processor intense programs will be at top. If so, you may choose End Process at the bottom.

sounds like you have board problems.
unplug everything from it first and see if this helps could be something you have plugged up could be bad too.
you will have to open box and look for damage and then one by one unplug something and then reboot to see what it might be.
