Hi,
the problem could be the cabling between the scanner and the Computer itself.
Other than that the lamp is possibly faulty or on the way out.
try uninstalling and re-installing the scanner.
Also check that the AC adaptor is,nt overheating, unplug for an hour and then retry setting it up.

At 600 dpi my CanoScan LiDE 60 copies on my HP LaserJet 1020 prints an almost all black page - and a very compressed scan copy on one side of the paper. I have reloaded my drivers without success.

I have many years reparing Canon scanners maybe I can help you.

My first question is why are you scanning at 600dpi? 200 to 300 dpi will work just fine for you. When you scan at that high of the dpi the scanner slows down it will operate much faster at a lower dpi. Try scanning at a lower dpi and see if that corrects your problem. Also when you scan at that high your computer has to work harder to convert the image And the image will turn into a megabyte image instead of a kilobyte image and you will be able to store more images at the lower dpi on your hard drive. I hope this helps you out and if it does leave me some feed back.

CanoScan LiDE 20 started stretching image at the beginning of the scan, continuing just fine afterwards. Bottom part of the image (in my case a letter-size page) will not fit, about 1/4 of an inch would be...

Hi pallada,

This might be a case where we address the symptoms rather than the problem.

Instead of positioning the paper to be copied at the normal position, drop it down to the 2" mark. Then on the preview screen, adjust the area to be scanned down accordingly.

This should allow a full letter size scan with no loss, truncation or stretch.

Best regards,
Mike

Hp 5400c scans blue images

sounds like a faulty scanning head to me......
when images are scanned they are normally imaged in 3 colours red blue and green these are then combined to give a full colour scan. sounds like you are only getting the blue pass.

not alot that can be done here, if it is in warranty (check with manufacturer for duration of warranty as sometimes this can be more than a year) they should repair or replace this for you

Red images when I scan...

That means, your scanner lens are not reflecting images properly so
you need to clean ADF kits and Glasses of Lens.
i highly recommend not to mess up with your scanner if you are not aware of those all parts and if you are just open up scanner glass cover and clean those all ADF kits otherwise better getting help of a printer Tech.
Good luck

The color on the printed images is very, very light

When you say no brightness... do you mean in the scanned image that is on the screen? Or is the image displayed on the screen just fine and the printer output is light?

Re-seat the USB cable (both ends), and plug the PC end into a DIFFERENT USB port. (because this unit draws it's power from the USB port, and perhaps the one you have is shot). Still the same result? Replace the scanner. It was about $99 back in 2000, and while a great scanner, it is not worth tinkering with it at this time.

Question about copying direct from scan to a Word document

Check if your Canon software creates a PDF image. A scanned image is a RASTER image, a series of dots, that 'appear' like text or drawing. You cannot use Ctrl-C or Ctrl-v. If the software creates a PDF file, you can cut & paste. Usr any good OCR (Optical Character recognition) software ad convert the raster image to editable text. Then you can cut & paste.
