Question about Mitsubishi WD-52631 52" Projection HDTV

1 Answer

Hi, I have WD-52631 model Mitsubishi projector tv. I recently bought a replacament lamp for it but it came without its housing. What can I do with this now? Can you just take out the old lamp from its housing and try to place this one in that one's housing? Would you need special tools for this? Thanks

Yes the old housing is welded closed, there is no opening on it. I can force open it but I am not sure if that's a good idea. I tried calling Mitsubishi help but nobody's picking up the phone. The last option is to buy a lamp already assembled but that would mean I just wasted 150dollars on this lamp. What do you think?

If the part number of the replacement lamp that you've got is the same with the part number of the old one, yes, you could use the housing of the old lamp. You need to use a flat screw driver to open the housing.

If you couldn't find any opening to replace the bulb, contact the vendor and see on how you can open the housing. I'm sure they know how to open it.

Good luck and have a great day!

I see. I think that the lamp that you've got is different from the old lamp. The new lamp that you've got is designed to fit with housing that you could open up to replace the lamp.

But the old lamp appears to have a disposable housing. Try to contact again the store where you bought the lamp so that you could return the lamp or replace it with another lamp that has its housing.

    Thank you!

How can you diagnose a failed lamp in a Mitsubishi DLP WD 52631

Remove the lamp and do a visual inspection.
If this is a DLP you may have a bad color wheel! whistling sound is a sign of color wheel.

Good luck to you

Hi, have you replaced the lamp after 2-3 yrs of usage? The lamps used by mitsubishi tend to last around 4000 hrs 1-3 yrs.It is common for the green light to light up.Other common failures are the ballast which is the board that powers the lamp. Also check if its not overheatin, dust out the fans.Heres where u can get the lamp or ballast http://www.discount-merchant.com/SearchResults.asp?Search=wd-52631

I have a Mitsubishi WD-52631. Picture will not come on. You hear the fan kick on and a whistling sound for a few seconds and then it powers off. After it shut down I pressed the INPUT and MENU buttons...

You need a new projector bulb. Google up your model and buy the best warranteed one you can find. Buy a "caged assembly" and not just a bare bulb.

Then unplug your tv and get a screwdriver. Follow your model's instructions and just snug down the electrical screws. Do not overtighten them.

Then consult your manual on how to reset the lamp timer so it knows you put a new bulb in and fires up from the first try.

Treat yourself because you've just saved yourself a trip from a repairman!!

Smell from mitsubishi wd-52631

Hi...maybe I can help. Go back in and make sure your lamp is connected to the ballast. If it is not all the way in, it will smell like it is burning. Sometime it will even burn out you lamp and or ballast too. Good luck
