Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

Without your model number I can't answer for sure, but for most models of f/p washers, this is the easiest way. First lift the lid and once it is straight up, pull it towards the cealing, it should slide straight up. On the right and left hand sides there are generally 2 "half moon" shaped peices of rubber. Pry these up with a small flat head screw driver. Underneath are phillips screws. Once these are out, the top of the washer should lift up from the front and let you get to the tub (and springs) underneath. If you are still having trouble. Drop me a note back.

AEG Lavamat washing machine model 76850, shows a blinking key and makes clicks and after that shows E40. Thanks John

Family error code E40 is visible to customers and (could be E41,E42,E43,E44 and E45 only visible in service mode) means problem with open door or door interlock.
I suggest rapid reading alarm code when appliance is in normal operating mode (e.g. during the execution of the washing
programme):
Press and hold down START/PAUSE and any of the option buttons for at least two seconds: the LEDs initially switch off, and then display the flashing sequence corresponding to the alarm.
The alarm sequence continues as long as the two buttons are held down.
E41 - Door open
E42 - Problems of door closure
E43 - Interlock power supply triac faulty
E44 - Door interlock sensing circuit faulty
E45 - Door interlock sensing circuit triac faulty

Possible causes:
Door interlock faulty, wiring faulty or PCB faulty.

Turned off mid cycle. Tried putting back onfor drain, also rinse and restart. Each time get error E40.

Hi.

With AEG washers E40 means defective door lock. Since a faulty door lock switch may go out with vibration you often do not get the error all the time. The door lock switch must be tested and eventually replaced. Call the AEG number listed in the user manual if you want to get in touch with an authorized technician or if you need replacement parts for your washing machine.

Regards.

I bought the 385X machine and haven't used it more than three times. Unsuccesful attempts each time. I took it to a local repairman hoping he could do a quick fix (since I can't find my receipt to go thru...

I would call Euro-pro at 1-800-798-7395 and ask them. I have a feeling that it is not your timing at all, I would also go online to euro-pro.com and see their frequently asked questions for your model on left side bottom box, and then look to the right column, it gives all kinds of tips for free. I think it has to do with your threading, are you reading your manual carefully for the threading? Slow down and actually read it. Good luck.

I have had the same problem. If you switch the machine to off and then to cotton/linen 95, then press at the same time prewash, soaking, qick wash and stain buttons for 10 seconds switch it off. When I switched it on it worked.
