SOURCE: e-recovery stalls at about 40%

Hi,

Sounds like a problem with your hard drive. The original hard drive installed is 40Gb. The message "destination: \\harddisk0\partition2" indicates that your single HD has been set to 2 partitions. Chances are that the recovery files are saved in your 2nd partition D. If your laptop came with a recovery CD, try using that instead of the eRecovery ALT/F10. Alternately, you may want to use an OEM XP Home Edition Installer and choose the 2nd "Repair" option.

If things don't work out, you may need to re-partition the HD and reinstall fresh/clean. Of course this would erase any and all contents of the drive. Should there be important files, you need to back them up but that would mean removing the HD and using an external enclosure, connect it as a removable storage to a 2nd PC using the USB and proceed to copy all your important files assuming of course that the 2nd PC will be able to read the HD in question.

If even on the 2nd PC you are having difficulty accessing the laptop's HD, try running utilities (ScanDisk) to check the HD's integrity. Possible problems are bad sectors, missing partition, corrupt files and the likes. If there are bad sectors, you may need to purchase a replacement.

Hope that this be of some help/idea. pls post back how things turned out or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

If you are using Windows XP, here's what you can do to fix the problem:

1) Insert the Windows XP bootable CD into the computer.
2) When prompted to press any key to boot from the CD, press any key.
3) Once in the Windows XP setup menu press the "R" key to repair Windows.
4) Log into your Windows installation by pressing the "1" key and pressing enter.
5) You will then be prompted for your administrator password, enter that password.
6) Copy the below two files to the root directory of the primary hard disk. In the below example we are copying these files from the CD-ROM drive letter, which in this case is "e." This letter may be different on your computer.

copy e:\i386\ntldr c:\
copy e:\i386\ntdetect.com c:\

7) Once both of these files have been successfully copied, remove the CD from the computer and reboot.

If you have tried each of the above recommendations that apply to your situation and you continue to experience this issue it is possible you may have a seriously corrupted version of Microsoft Windows. Therefore we would recommend you reinstall Windows XP.

You must use some kind of disc... If the recovery discis out-of-reach, use an original Windows installation CD to make a repair installation.

Acer aspire one error in oxf0000005 / NTLDR is missing

That is a windows error. You can try booting off the original installation CD and choose option for fix current installation, but chances are 50.50 if it will work or not. NTLDR is the bootmanager for Windows NT based systems (Windows NT, 2000, XP, etc). Critical system file, typically protected against altering.

The error code you gave is usually associated with windows having issues seeing / using a SATA drive. You will likely have to find the driver for our particular SATA controller, and load it when prompted as you startup off the recovery disk.

Could you look at solutions other than running a system restore? What is the initial issue that is requiring you to run the restore?
If you're at the point of needing to run a restore, you do need to get your hands on the discs, I would recommend borrowing the discs from someone else with an Acer, or purchasing them from the manufacturer. Trying to borrow discs from someone might be an issue as Acer no longer provides physical recovery discs, the process is run directly from the laptop and the files are on a partitioned section of the harddrive.

I have a 5 month old acer aspire one with xp and when computer comes on it shows NTLDR is missing, how do we fix this

you will need to run Recovery on it... NTLDR is needed to boot to windows.. if its missing, it won't boot to windows, and unless you have an external cdrom and can throw in a recovery disk or a cd of the same version of operating system and choose to repair.. then fixboot and run chkdsk /r...

To get to your recovery partition press ALT and F10 at boot up

Note: some aspire one's don't have a recovery partition.. and in this case .. windows will need to be reinstalled..

My Acer aspire 3610 laptop expired yesterday, telling me that the ntldr was missing. Any ideas?

NTLDR is system files it is corrupted in your computer.
SO you have to repair your operating sytem.
If you have recovery disk then boot your computer with that disk then recover your OS.
For that when you power up the computer press F1 or F2 or "del" key to enter in bios.
Then go to boot option then set first boot device as your cd or dvd rom then save settings and exit.
Then follow the procedure on screen then choose "r" optionj when it find your previous installation of OS.
Let me know if you need more assistanse.
Thanks.

Black screen NTDLR Press any key to restart

Are you saying it came with a recovery disk that you dont have anymore. If thats the case you may need to aquire this from acer. If you go to their web site you can usually find a way to order this disc for your machine.
Find someone who has an xp disc and use it to go to recovery console then restore MBR files. NTLDR is the error meaning your master boot record has been damaged.

Recovery cd for acer aspire 3000

The "NTLDR is missing" error can sometimes occur when the boot.ini file is corrupt or missing but in your case it sounds like the HardDrive is the problem.

Try the Following:
Start>Run>Type "Cmd" and enter>Type "dir c:" and enter>Type "chkdsk" and enter. Your computer might promote you to chkdsk later Press "Y" and restart you computer

The Acer Aspire series usually have a eRecovery manager than ables you to burn 2 recovery disk which you should have done when you first got the laptop. Since you haven't done that you'll have to buy new recovery CD/DVD
From:
http://www.user-guides.co.uk/asp/product.asp?product=1241&ph=search&keywords=Acer,Aspire,Recovery,CD&recor=1&SearchFor=any&PT_ID=100

OR you can try the following.

Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore. Choose a restore point that goes back to before your NTLDR problem started.

Please Rate, Thanks.

Ntldr missing

You need to do full system recovery to boot up your pc again. NTLDR is a hidden file that is needed to boot windows. Your laptop should come with a recovery disc to re install Windows.
Hope this helps.

Failed recovery

Hi,

If you are using recovery CDs, with or without the NTLDR present in the HD should work. Perhaps what is needed is for you to set the laptop to boot from the CD. This could be done in the CMOS/BIOS configuration.

Alternately, if only the NTLDR is missing and everything else works OK, you can try removing the HD from the PC and connect it as a slave or an external USB mass storage device to a 2nd PC. It will be a simple case of copying the 2nd PC's NTLDR to the HD missing it.

In some instances, memory problem triggers this message as well. You can try cleaning the memory's little gold contacts/pins and/or try replacing them.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
