It appears your clutch assembly has failed in this instance.

For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...

FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.

PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.

If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.

If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.

My Kenmore Elite Quiet pak 2 # 11045872402 HE3 washer doesn't go through the complete Cycle it stops when drain and spin,or doesn't Tumble through the cycle? could I have confused it by trying to keep

Spinning is prevented when the cover is open. Possibly a broken "door closed" switch is or its wires are broken. Lift the lid platform and check the switch. May be just debris preventing it from engaging. Remember, the lid and the close switch must be engaged before the control circuit will allow the high speed spin from happening. This is an essential safety feature and should never be circumvented. A high speed drum can literally pull an arm from its socket if caught so make sure it's working properly

I have an kenmore elite =sm9711174. the spin cycle does not always start. i have to manually spin a couple times then it starts, but now does not spin fast. only slow. do i need a new belt?

this washer does not have a belt. The motor is a direct drive. it should give you a error code at time if it is unable to spin. some codes are F-51, F-dl, and UL. from the sounds of it the main board may need to be replaced part#W10189966.

My Kenmore Elite top loading king size washing machine is humming when it starts the wash cycle. I purchased it in 2003-4 time frame. I emptied it out and it still makes an electric humming noise for a...

The humming is the motor trying to start. Check the pump for coins and other debris as it may be plugged. if not then see if your tub spins by hand easily without any noises if so then your motor or transmission may be out. You can disconnect these trought the coupling and see if the motor turns freely when power is restored if so then your transmission is locked up if not then the motor is bad. Under the tub the motor and pump are connected by retaining clips, unclip and look inside, the coupling is directly under the tub and hooked to the tranmission. You will have to remove the screw on the side of the control panel and pull it forward to get to the clips holding the body of the washer to the frame, it slips off forwards, towards you and you have acess all inside!
If this was helpful a vote with the thumbs up would be appreciated.

Spin cycle or agitate doesn't always engage. I

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

There is likely to be a problem with either the lid solenoid/lock or the 'lid closed' sensor requiring a service engineer's attention I suggest. Sorry ;-0(

If this has assisted and/or clarified the situation for you please consider a 4 thumbs up on our rating.
Thanks and good luck!

The pressure switch is mis-reporting the water level to the ECU.

Test/replace the pressure switch.

THE KENMORE TOP LOAD WASHER HAS A CLUTCH AND DRIVE COUPLING THAT IS PART OF THE SPIN CYCLE.
THE DRIVE COUPLING ATTACHES THE MOTOR TO THE TRANSMISSION AND IS MADE OF PLASTIC AND RUBBER.
IT COULD BE GETTING HOT AND TORN. THE OTHER POSSIBILITY IS THE CLUTCH MAY BE SLIPPING. THERE COULD BE OIL THAT HAS GOTTEN INTO THE CLUTCH AND SO THE CLUTCH WON'T GRIP. PULL THE CABINET OFF OF THE WASHER OR TIP IT BACK AND CHECK THE FLOOR FOR BLACK OR WHITE SHAVINGS OR OIL. THE SHAVINGS WOULD BE FROM THE DRIVE COUPLING AND THE OIL COULD BE FROM THE TRANSMISSION OR THE SPIN TUBE.
