Question about Kenmore Dryers

1 Answer

Dryer turns on by itself

Hi. I have a kenmore 80 series dryer and it keeps turning on by itself. I've had to leave the dryer door open for the past two days or it runs and stops all day. Any ideas what could be wrong or is it time to buy a new dryer? Thanks.

Change your timer. It has a malfunction in it. it's about a 100 dollar fix. Also your start switch may be bad.

A timer motor advances the timer; if the timer does not advance, you can safely conclude the timer motor is bad, and replace the timer.

Kenmore 80 series electric dryer will not turn off - continues to run thru cycles - must leave door open in order to turn off- cost wise..it itworth having fixed or look into purchasing a new dryer?

It sounds like the timer is bad. Easy to replace and cheap. Maybe 15-30 dollars for the new one. Not difficult to install yourself, just open up the top console and unscrew the old on and slap the new one in. Takes maybe 15 minutes. Just be careful to put all the wires in the same spot as the old one. Even if you have a repair guy come and do it it will be much cheaper to fix than get a new machine.
