MDS-JE780 does not recognize media. Media was tested on other player and was OK. Cleaning the lens didn't help also.

Sadly that means the head has failed. A real shame as that is one peach of a unit.

That makes it irreparable as spares are no longer available, the only option is to look for another one on FreeCycle/Freegle and on auction sites.

Sony MDS-JE520 Mini Disc Machine no operation, standby led is illuminated, but pressing on/off button it does not respond

This is from my own experiance. I inadvertedly bent the cover of my deck and had the same error.
The minidisc is blocked in the loading mechanism. Too much weight on top of the deck can bend the cover and the metal support which is above the loading sledge. The slider is then blocked. When you connect the power you can hear a motor trying to move for as short instant.
Disconnect the deck from the power supply.
Take of the cover and check if the support is bent. carefully bend it upwards, if so. Reconnect power and check if the deck powers up..

That's my solution which worked for me.

BTW I second Obertellis advice to find a MDS-JE780 (or MDS-JB980) they are the most complete decks ever made by Sony

It sounds like the laser lens on the DVD player is dirty. They will need cleaned from time to time. radio Shack sells several products to do just that. Here is a link to what they have: http://www.radioshack.com/search/index.jsp?kwCatId=&kw=dvd%20cleaner&origkw=dvd%20cleaner&sr=1

HELLO
Have you tried cleaning the lens? Even minidisc decks have to get the laser cleaned!
Power it off and take the lid off, then using isopropyl alcohol and a cotton bud clean the lens gently in a circular motion. Then try it again.
It may just work for you (:-)

My sansa mp3 player isn`t recognized by the computer

It may depend on your operating system, but there are known issues in vista. There is also a hotfix from microsoft. This is from the Sansa Website FAQs at http://www.sansa.com/support/sansa_clip/faqs

My Sansa player is not recognized by my computer when I connect it.

The most common reason for this problem is not having the latest Windows Media Player installed, or having a Windows OS version that is not supported by the Sansa player.

The Sansa players support Windows XP SP2 and Windows Vista and above. If your operating system version is supported by the Sansa player:

SOLUTION 1 – Download and install the latest Windows Media Player

SOLUTION 2 – If that didn’t help, and you are running Windows Vista, apply the following hotfix - KB940199

SOLUTION 3 – If that didn’t help, download and Install the MTP Porting Kit (click here)

SOLUTION 4 – If that didn’t help, try connecting the device to the PC using MSC mode

On the Clip: Go to Settings > USB mode & choose MSC

I hope this helps and please don't forget to rate my answer.

Sansa clip 2gb lockec

First of all, may I ask if you have a mini disc player or a Sansa Clip? Because the Sansa Clip does not play discs of any kind.

If you do indeed have a Sansa Clip you will find the FAQ rather helpful here - http://www.sansa.com/support/sansa_clip/faqs
Question 9 there is regarding devices not recognized by the PC and the solutions are as follows:
The most common reason for this problem is not having the latest Windows Media Player installed, or having a Windows OS version that is not supported by the Sansa player.
The Sansa players support Windows XP SP2 and Windows Vista and above. If your operating system version is supported by the Sansa player:

If none of the solutions work for you, please post the results of your attempts and we can go from there.

My samsung bdp1000 will not play some discs

Hey chazh,

If you have been having difficulty playing some discs in your Blu-ray player, there are a couple of things that I would suggest.

First, you may wish to try cleaning the inoperable discs using a soft, lint-free (typically microfiber) cloth. Sometimes dirt or lint can build up on the underside of a disc, preventing it from being read or recognized by an optical drive. When cleaning any disc, remember to use gentle, outward strokes from the center of the disc towards the outer edge.

Secondly, you may wish to try cleaning the Blu-ray player's lens itself. Similar to CD's and DVD's, contaminants on the lens of any optical device can prevent it from being able to read discs. Many retailers (including your local Best Buy™ store) may sell DVD cleaning kits, which can be inserted into the player much like a DVD or other media title.

Should cleaning the discs and player's lens fail to resolve the problem, you may wish to contact Samsung directly for further assistance. While dusty media may be one of the most common reasons why a disc would not play, you could also potentially be encountering format compatibility issues or even a manufacturer's defect (such as a lens that is out of alignment).

If you do not feel comfortable working with the manufacturer, remember that you may always bring your player into your local Best Buy™ store for service and repairs.

Hope this helps you out.

Sincerely,
Aaron
