    Says e18 Lenses are stuck

My camera won't turn on at all. Every time I try, it'll just go black and the lens will move a little bit, but the screen will be black and have an E18 at the bottom.

Chuchi you've done all you could. I'm sorry but it seems your only options now are to consider professional repair, or buying a new or used working camera. You can still put up your A520 camera for sale on ebay. There are many people who will still buy it for parts, primarily for the working lcd screen (an lcd swap is much much easier to do than a lens swap).

Chuchi, as mentioned your camera probably needs costly professional repair with replacement of the entire lens assembly. Try the following only as a last resort. If it doesn't work, suggest it's time to give up and consider buying a new camera as lens replacement will cost more than the current value of the A520.

Have you tried pulling on the lens barrel while pressing the power button, in effect assisting the motor in opening the lenses? Give it a firm tug directly outward as you press the power button.

Chuchi, if you've tried the lens error solutions with no luck (change battery, hitting camera, pushing pulling lens barrel, etc...) your camera may then require actual repair and replacement of the lens assembly. Unfortunately, this may cost more than the value of the camera as it's not an easy fix, and requires replacement parts.

In regards to you particular case, is the lens partially extended, or is it fully retracted? What specifically does your camera do when your press the on button (does the lens even move?). Do you notice any uneveness in the lens barrel, or the spacing of the gaps around the lens barrel?

The E18 error is fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension.

Here's some things that you can do to try to correct it. They only seem to work for about 50% of lens errors, but they're worth a try:

My lens wont fully extend

My sister's camera was having the same trouble and after trying a few different things, i came across a solution that fixed her camera. Her error said "lense error, restart camera."

I held down the shutter button for a few seconds, then i held down the power button as well. I tried it once or twice and then it worked. I hope this helps!
