My moms cable company installed a new modem and left the router disconnected--I reinstalled the software and hooked everything back up and my laptop recognizes the network but seems to be stalled out at the "acquiring network address" stage; your tech support said to use this service to fix the problem; Thank you.

Can i hook up wrt120n to laptop without hooking up to cable modem to fix?

Try this: Unplug EVERYTHING(related to both the router and modem). BEFORE you plug in power to anything, connect all of your ethernet. So, first ethernet goes from modem to router. Make sure they are in their proper places. Next, take another ethernet cable and attach that from modem to computer. NOW, power everything up. Google the linksys router splash page login. Im sure it'll be something like: 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 or something along those lines. From there, you should be able to set up your wireless. Once thats all good, unplug just your computer and everything should be fine. If that doesn't work, its either time for a new router or you're having wifi card issues.

Easytether.. connecting via cable modem after installing easytether

Surely it needs more info to may it be resolved. But seems that you have a problem with DHCP. Try rebooting your Linksys Wireless G router and the two laptops AFTER you connect the cable modem.

Keep getting kicked off

when sharing internet connection, it's all about sequence when turning it on... Sequence in regard to what's turned on first, second etc... Here's the solution:
1. Turn everything off... modem, router...computers etc..
2. Turn on the wireless router FIRST and let it boot up.
3. Then turn on the modem and let it cycle up...
This allows your modem to lock onto the wifi router.
4. Turn everything else back on...
You should be good to go without drop outs...

If the power goes out, simply follow this sequence...
It's all about the sequence!!

Just connected router to clear network modem and VoIP (wireless phone service), now when the phone ring, it disconnects me from the internet and the connection is lost until the phone call is complete.

Is your modem a DSL or cable modem?
If it is a DSL modem do you have a DSL filter on each phone line to the phones in your house?
The DSL modem does not need a DSL filter on the phone line.

I have a dwl-2000ap, the problem on the lan port does not function, led indicator lan does not work. I have input cable type Straight-Through or crossover, but it still does not function whether dwl-2000ap...

It should work with either cable. The LED will only come on when a connection is made to the computer or router. Is the LAN adaptor working correctly at the other end.

How to Install DLink DIR-615 with only 1 port on my laptop?

Connect the modem to the router via the ethernet cable. Connect the laptop to the router by means of another ethernet cable in one of the 4 spare sockets. Switch everything off. Turn everything back on one at a time, modem first, then router, then laptop. Allow each unit to fully power up before switching the next one on. Put the installation CD in the laptop and try again. If you are using the laptop wirelessly, make sure the wireless function is switched on!

I have a cable connection to the internet and when I hook up the

1. Disconnect the cable from your cable modem and connect it to one of the four on the back of the wireless router.
2 Connect a cable from the back of the cable modem to the LAN port on the wireless router.

3. disconnect the power on the cable modem for about 30 seconds.

4. reconnect the power to the cable modem and wait until the unit boots completely.
all but the activity light should be on.

5 power up the router and wait a few moments.

You should now have access on your computer that you have connected to the router. verify this by going to a web page.

6. on the laptop, open the control panel and then the network connections control panel (this assumes we are working with windows).

7. Highlight the wireless adapter by clicking on it once.

8. To the right of the icon will be a list of links. (assuming windows XP). click the one that says "view available wireless networks". Your router should be in the list. If so, highlight it and click connect at the bottom of the window.

Did this resolve your issue?

Sounds like a faulty router or issue with the firmware if it is unaccesible, your best solution is to factory reset the device and try again.

Laptop says I have no wireless connection

You need to reset your router. It should be a reset button on the back of the router. Get a stick pin and press and hold for 30 seconds. Then after 1 minute. Unplug your cable/dsl modem and router. Plug the cable modem back in first and after 1 minute plug your router back in. Reinstall the software for your router and you should be able to connect wireless with no problem.
