Question about Corel WordPerfect Office 12 Home Edition (WP12ENGPCHE) for PC

2 Answers

When I try to run a template-macro for the fist time each day, I get the message that "PerfectScript12 has encountered a problem and needs to close..." I then have to reinstall WP12 whicy solves the problem for that day. I have used WP12 for many years and this only started recently.

I have tried your suggestion several times now and I still have the same problem. I uninstalled WP12 and reinstalled it. This was very difficult because most of the time I get the message "Error 1500" the program is already running. I have to keep restarting the computer in order for this to stop. I need another solution!

Hi.

If the problem happens always with the same macro, then it is the Macro that is creating an issue with system settings.

If you get the problem with any macro, and you already reinstalled WP, then the problem is the system. In that case, if you use Windows, try creating a new user with administrator privileges. Uninstall WP, and reinstall after logging in with the new user, to test WP.

If you use Vista, to install WP, instead of using auto-run, locate installer file on CD, click right button of mouse on setup file, and choose "Run as Administrator" from drop-down menu, after ensuring you had done log in with the new user.

Regards.

Can you save a text template to be put on your texts every time

Yes, it is actually called a signature. Go to your message settings and you should see signature option, select that and then add the text you want to be on your messages. But make sure that your signature is turned ON in your message settings. Hope this helps!

Word 2007 saves and closes normal.dotm everytime I close it. It doesn't ask for anything, but it shows as an opened document in Word and start menus list.

It could mean that the normal.dot file is corrupt.

Try this:

1. Do a search for normal.dot
2. when found, change the name to "normal.dot.old"
3. restart your machine

Good Luck !!!!!!

"this modification is not allowed because the document is locked"

Rename all instances your document template files (Normal.dotm or Normal.dot) to prevent formatting changes, AutoText entries, and macros that are stored in the global template (Normalm.dot or Normal.dot) from affecting the behavior of Word and documents that are opened, rename your global template (Normal.dotm or Normal.dot). Renaming the template lets you quickly determine whether the global template is causing the issue.

When you rename the Normal.dotm template in Word 2007 or the Normal.dot template in Word 2003 and in earlier versions of Word, you reset several options to the default settings. These include custom styles, custom toolbars, macros, and AutoText entries.

Flash template...how ot add audio clip

well, if your having a hard time adjusting it in flash mx, you can try to convert the flash file into any other video format like .avi then add them up into any video maker editor and try to adjust it through there. then just convert it back to flash. sounds silly but its easier that way i guess if your really having a hardtime adjusting it with macro.

Normal.dotm Won't Adopt Macros & Code is Seen as Full of Bugs

It sounds like your Anti-Virus or Spyware is blocking and won' t allow access, it thinks its harmful, try turning off the Virus software installed, do your thing and then turn the software back on. If thats not it then your Software is damaged and you will have to install a new copy of Office. Good Luck.

Macro on excel

Macros are a timesaving feature that allow you to record a sequence of actions that you do in excel, and replay them back later.

You give each macro a name, and you can invoke them later, and Excel will "do" whatever it is you did when you recorded the macro.

To record a new macro:
1) Open Excel
2) Go to Tools->Macros->Record New Macro...
3) Type in a name for your macro and hit OK

(A new toolbar will popup with a "stop" button on it. Excel is now recording everything you do)

4) Do something, like, for example, select some cells and make them bold.
5) Click the "stop" button.

Now your macro has been recorded! You can play it back later by:

1) Open Excel
2) Go to Tools->Macros->Macros...
3) Select your macro from the list
4) Click "Run"

The actions you performed earlier will now be executed.

-------

Macros are written in Visual Basic for Applications, or "VBA". It is a programming language which uses the Excel Object Model to perform various actions. You can edit and create custom macros by writing the code manually in VBA. To do this:

1) Open Excel
2) Go to tools->macros->macros...
3) Select an already existing macro
4) Click "Edit"

(The visual basic editor will open, showing you the code for your macro)

At this point you are writing a program in Visual Basic. To learn how to edit macros, you need to learn visual basic, as well as the specific quirks related to excel macros in visual basic.

Recording a macro, and then using it as a template while you edit it is a common trick for making macros manually more quickly.

If you are not familiar with VB, I would not suggest attempting to edit your macros in any but the most simplest of ways. If you're brave, you can try to learn about editing macros in VBA here:

Copying Microsoft Word macros to new computer system

Macros are stored in one of two places, Irene - and you decide where and when you create one. When you select Tools -> Macro -> Record New Macro you’re prompted to either create the macro in the global template (normal.dot) file, or the document you’re currently working on - by default, normal.dot is selected so that the macros are available in all documents you create.

Your normal.dot file is also where all custom styles, toolbars and autotext entries are stored, and it’s possible to transfer all of these - plus your macros - from one machine to another courtesy of Word’s Macro Organizer tool. The walkthrough below explains how to access it and back up your macros to a file you then transfer to your second PC before copying those macros into the normal.dot file on that computer so the macros are accessible from there too.

While this tool is the best way to transfer macros, or other individual elements of your normal.dot file (just select the appropriate tab to transfer styles, toolbars and autotext entries in exactly the same way), if you’re migrating to another PC you may wish to take all your settings with you. If you have Office 2000 or later you can use the Save My Settings Wizard to back up all your Office customisations - including the normal.dot template - and then use the same wizard on your new computer to restore them to the version of Office installed there.

Office XP and 2003 users will find the tool installed with Office -access it from the Microsoft Office Tools menu on the Start -> All Programs menu; Office 2000 users need to download it from here. It’s called the Microsoft Office 2000 Profile Wizard here.
