Question about Cell Phones

2 Answers

Can you help me figure out how to connect the phone to my laptop? I don't have a sim card like at&t and I already pay to have internet on my phone. It seems senseless to pay another $40 per month just to be able to plug the cord into my computer so I can actually see the screen

    As I already said, my phone DOES NOT have a sim card. I have disks that came with the phonr for VZaccess mgr, windows 6.1, active sync, mobile device center and the manual. It is crazy to pay twice for the same internet service since I would be using my cell phone as the modem either through USB or wi-fi

It is an automatic configuration procedure.

Restart your system;
Insert the pc-suite cd which should run automatically;
Follow the on-screen instructions;
If you have used Nokia Pc-Suite you will find it easy to install this;
Just follow the manual and it will be done.

I hope you phone has a sim card?

Good luck and thanks for using Fixya.

Do remember to rate this solution/ suggestion.

Hello :

I will answer you , even you didn't say what is exactly your phone .

Before you connect your phone to your laptop to have internet on it , you need first to have internet in your phone . To have internet on your phone , you need to call your operator service center for help .
After you have internet on your phone , you need connect your phone to your laptop . There are some processes here , that you can not do by yourself . You need the help of the service center until you have internet on your laptop .

Just ask them the same question you asked here but don't forget to tell them what is your device .

good luck .

rate if useful please !

hi

you are installed a security code when you are using your old sim cards

so if you wont to install a new sim card you have to know your security code

other wise

1) insert your old sim card
2) switch on the phone and back up all data
3) Connect your phone to pc using Nokia PC Suite and Data cable
4) make sure about your data
5) Download the Nokia Software updater
6) Update your phone software or reinstall if you have already latest software

if any doubt replay me

Hi,

Let me give you a little background and then some solutions. This is generic because I don't know your carrier. I'm useing ATT as an example.

Phones are naturally unlocked, but a service provider might lock them

When originally manufactured, all GSM cell phones are unlocked. That is, they can be used with any SIM from any cellphone service provider - always assuming, of course, that the cellphone service provider has compatible GSM service on the same frequency bands that the phone can operate on.

Most cell phone service providers electronically 'lock' the phone so that it can only be used with their service. There are obvious reasons why they choose to do this - in particular, to force you to pay what are usually very high roaming charges when you take your phone out of their network and use it elsewhere in the world.

Fortunately, this locking is reversible. With some phones, it is possible to simply enter an unlocking password code into the phone and it is immediately then unlocked. Other phones need to be connected up to a special unlocking data terminal.

Your phone has to be unlocked by the carrier. LG, Motorala, Sony Ericsson, Nokia and most of their ilk, will not give consumers the unlock codes but don't despair.

A PUK (PIN Unlock Key) code is required to unlock SIM cards that have become locked following three successive incorrect PIN entries. If your SIM card becomes locked, you will need to get a PUK code from your carrier. For example, if you have AT&T to unlock your SIM card, you can obtain your phone's PUK code from AT&T by:

? logging in to your myWireless Account online
? using their Technical Support Chat
? calling Customer Care at 1-800-331-0500

To get your phone's PUK code online from ATT:

? Log in to your myWireless Account.
? Select My Services under My Account.
? From the My Services screen, select My Phone/Device.
? Select Unblock SIM Card.
? The Unblock SIM screen will display your PUK code.

Once you receive your PUK code, you will need to enter it into your phone to set a new PIN code.

Note: If you enter the wrong ATT PUK code 10 times in a row, your SIM card will be invalidated, and you will need to purchase a new SIM Card. The phone will display the following error: "PUK blocked call operator."

There are three other ways to unlock a phone:

? The carrier will unlock the phone for you at one of its retail outlets;
? You can do it yourself by clicking on this link Free Unlock Codes ,
? Pay $3.89 at the following website: www.theunlockshack.com/.

I trust that this is helpful and solves your problem. All the best

My mum got a new phone on her contract but didn't need it, so she gave me her phone. I'm not on contract as i'm on pay-as-you-go, and for some reason it won't allow me to go on the internet...

Hi there

It would be best to contact the network provider that you have. The problem is not on the phone but on the SIM or the settings of your network.

Hope this helps

Sim card in computer?

Unfortunately no. You used to be able to get a usb cable and connect your cell as a modem and get free internet access, but the wireless companies have figured out that they can charge an unreasonable rate for internet access, and you now have to purchase an air time wireless card through your cell provider in order to connect through their cell services. It's a bummer, I know.
