I bought a used pioneer reciever Model VSX-D308 because it had the phono input for my LP's Tried to get owners manual through Pioneer. But no luck. I'm trying to use it as a reg. reciever. I just want to hook 4 speakers, a turntable, or play the radio. How do I get the 4 speakers to come on?

I wish that was the cace, as simple as putting on A then B side. What it does have is A then below it has middle then 2 more that says surround. on the front when push the speaker button it just says A

I only can get A side to work . Thats why I was looking for an owners manual. Any help would be appreciated. thank you.

My hats off to you. I pushed the pro logic button and the sound came on . pushing the surround did nothing. I guess playing vinyl records is a thing of the past. Speakers A sound real good and the other 2 sound like they're catching up. I guess there's no easy way to put into L&R channel only. And getting equal sound on all 4 speakers. My old fashion 2 channel tunner bit the dust. Thank you for your help. But is there a way for me to get a manual for this beast ?

Hi,
I think this receiver has Speaker-A and Speaker-B buttons, turn on both A and B to get sound from 4 speakers.
Make sure 4 speakers are hooked so Speakers A and B will work.
I found VSX-D309 manual over internet but it is different.
Hope this info will help you.
Thanks.

That means its surround sound system and requires Dolby Digital Pro Logic signal to work all of its speakers.
I hope if you turn on surround option, it will give sound in surround speakers too on normal stereo input L+R

I looked through all of the previous people that answered your questions and I understand that you want the owners manual.

I was able to locate one through Pioneer's web site for your Model number.

You can contact them at:
1.800.228.7221
Monday - Friday: 7:00am - 4:30pm PST

Closed on Saturdays, Sundays and major holiday s.

Part Number is ARB7171 they show it in stock and the price is $9.97, not sure what shipping would cost you.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue.
If you need further assistance please comment to this post and I will try to help you further.

you have a short in the rca cable from phono to reciver. try a new cable. if problem is still there i would say your record player is shorted inside.

What your unidentified TV >>requires<< is the BEST Video from every video source. That would be the DVD, SAT Box. It probably has multiple high-end video inputs, right?

What your receiver needs is at least a basic composite video connection to the TV so you can set it up and manage it.

A web search for "Pioneer VSX-D308 manual" will find the manual.

ALL of the BEST Audio should go directly to the Pioneer. That includes the SAT and DVD player.

Your TV can exist just fine with basic audio from the video sources. And you could still watch it/them without the Pioneer turned of if you want.

I can't find the exact manual for free anywhere but if you download something similar like http://www.retrevo.com/support/Pioneer-VSX-D409-Receivers-manual/id/385ci977/t/2/ it should give you the basic guidance you need.

I recommend

Do some web searching for what the cables are for. It's all basic and standard.

I have a Pioneer VSX-D308 reciever and I have a EQ. How do I hook it up to this reciever?

I only know of one way to do this and here it is:

1. Plug your tape deck's output (cassette or R2R) into the EQ's "Line In".
2. Plug the EQ's "Line Out" into the Receiver's "Tape 1 Input".
3. Now plug the Receivers "Tape 1 Output" into the Tape Player's "Line In".
4. You have now made an "FX loop" for the Tape Deck. Now you just have to put the Tape Deck on "Tape Monitor".....put the Receiver on "FM"..... and turn on your favorite FM station and you will hear the FM Receiver THROUGH the tape deck's "Monitor Send" AND the EQ.............set EQ to taste....... and BINGO.......DONE!

Enjoy,

Need an owners manual

All you have to do is go to Pioneer's USA site and get the PDF file for the manual. You may need to Google search to find that link (just search on model no. and look for Pioneer site link) as it is a retired model. I just purchased one from BB but it was complete.

depends what audio outputs you have on the sky box, analogue (two phono usually red for right channel and white left channel)in which case just use phono leads to the phono inputs,Optical(toslink),connect an optical cable from the output to the optical input on the dvd channel of the pioneer, coaxial (spdif)connect to spdif input on the laser disk input of the pioneer, dont connect to the attenuated spdif. In the unlikeley event of the sky box not having any audio outputs, just use the outputs from the tv to the pioneer. The optical digital input gives the best quality on the vsa eo6

Poor sound

You need to connect most turntables to a PHONO input or buy a PHONO preamp. Many newer receivers do not have a PHONO input. The AUX port you are using would work fine for a device like a CD player, but turntables need to be amplified. You can buy an external Phono pre-amp from Radio Shack. I don't know anything about this site, but something like this device should work for you. http://www.phonopreamps.com/tc400pp.html
