Hello.

I suggest you get a refund, if you can, or get a new keyboard. If you've had a keyboard for a long time, chances are that will happen.

I am not responsible for any damage done.

If you have any problems I am more than happy to arrange a live confrence call.

Fn key

You could map that FN key to another unused key in Windows such as use the "[" or "]" key mapped as FN. Requires DOTNET Framework 2.0 to operate.

if no joy try it in safe mode

restart you computer tap the f8 key repeatedly to enter safe mode where the only things working will be your keyboard and mouse allowing you an attempt to repair your computer

If done properly the user should get to a screen similar to the below screen.

Select the option for Safe mode command prompt only

Windows Advanced Options Menu
Please select an option:

Safe Mode
Safe Mode with Networking
Safe Mode with Command Prompt

Enable Boot Logging
Enable VGA mode
Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked)
Directory Services Restore Mode (Windows domain controllers only)
Debugging Mode

Start Windows Normally
Reboot
Return to OS Choices Menu

Use the up and down arrow keys to move the highlight to your choice.
select safe mode
restart your computer press and hold the delete or f2 key to enter BIOS using the arrow keys load failsafe defaults or load optimized defaults press escape then press f10 to save to cmos to restart

or

hope this helps

Light is in lid,top centre, instructions say to pressFn and Pgup keys to switch it on,no pressing combination makes it work.I need the night light facility

Quote from the R50e manual:
"Fn+PgUp Turn the ThinkLight on or off.

Note: This function is supported only on the
ThinkPad computers that have the ThinkLight.
The on or off status of the ThinkLight is shown
on the screen for a few seconds when you
press Fn+PgUp."
You might try and reinstall ThinkPad Hotkeys Features Setup or something similar to that.

I have a new laptop 1257145 K52F-BBR5IPCD,P6100/3GB/32. What are the top row of keys for eg. Sun or moon, I do not know what to do with all the F keys, on the top row, starting with esc, the f1-f12, then...

Hello howeca, the Sun (Arrow Down), is to Darken the "Screen," and the Sun (Arrow Up) is to Brighten the "Screen." The "Lock Symbol" will [Lock] the Computer. Some of the [Keys] have to be "Pressed" at the same time or together with the {FN} at the bottom {left} of the "Keyboard" for them to work. If you have the "Owner's Manual or User's Guide" that came with the Computer; read up on the different 'functions' of each "Button." I hope this information is helpful? Keyboard trouble

you need to reload that software that came with the keyboard. Uninstall the keyboard from device manager :- Control Panel>system>device manager. Then reload the software for the keyboard, which should also have the drivers. If you do not have the software, let me know the make and model of the keyboard and I will see what I can do.

Hope this helps

Keyboard Fn key

Try hooking up and external key board see if that works ok, and if it does you may want to try to find a new or used key board for your laptop. The key board may be shot, It should be fairly easy to change to a new board, Hopefully That will help you diag. the problem..
