Question about Cell Phones

I already subscribe to the data package (including internet) from verizon on my cell phone. Isn't there an easy way to link it to my laptop for when I'm not at home without having to pay for the tethering service as well?

can you help me figure out the options? I have no sim card like at&t and have the disc, just don't see the logic behind having to pay an additional $40 to be able to see my screen and use it on my laptop when I already pay for internet on my phone

Yes there are ways to do that if you have the sync driver for your phone.

It has the option of configuring your phone for internet access via your service provider's settings found on your phone sim automatically.

Please follow the procedure by installing the driver and follow the on screen instructions.

    Good luck.

Subscribe to packet data first

Thanks for visiting FixYa!

If you're trying to access the Internet on your phone but have not signed up for a Data Service plan with your Cellular service Provider, you'll receive the message, "Subscribe to Packet Data First."

To access the Internet on your phone, call your cell phone company and have them add a Data plan to your account. Data plans (to use the Internet) are options that are not included with your regular cellular service plan.

If you already purchased a Data plan but cannot get to the Internet on your phone, call your cell phone company and request assistance. They'll be glad to assist you.

How can i subscribed to packet data first?

hi flordeliza,
you have to call your service provider in order to subscribe to packet data service, it is a service that will allow you to connect to the internet a t a cheaper price or fixed price (depending on the package you subscribed into). Ii is sometimes an add on plan or rate to your postpaid service. But if you are a prepaid user, just make sure you have enough credits and check with your provider if they have promos on surfing the internet.
Make sure also that you have the proper settings saved/installed on your nokia 2220. If you don't have the settings, ask your provider to send the settings on your phone.
many thanks,

I have a samsung omnia i910 with verizon wireless. I already have to pay for a data package on the phone, and they want almost as much more to use it to tether or wifi to my laptop. Isn't there any other...

Hello, Missy.

I think back years ago for what I paid for full landline phone service, dial-up for Internet, limited cell service and cable service.

Even though it feels like a lot of $$$, these days, I am getting so much more for my $$$ (not to say that it's inexpensive).

I have Verizon service, also and have the "works" with my Blackberry, including data and VZNavigator. But, I have dropped my landline service (really don't need it anymore) and do have cable service (I use Comcast) and Verizon DSL.

Altogether, I think I'm paying about the same as years ago with higher technology, portability and convenience.

My advice to you is this: really evaluate what you need, rather than what you want. Compare providers side by side with your needs in mind.

Hope this helps.
