The salesman is referring to another piece of equipment that can convert the RJ45 or the Ethernet connect to a phone port or RJ11. This equipment might also be inserted in the USB port and at the end of it you will have your RJ11 or phone port.
But honestly, I personally does not seen yet any converter that can convert the RJ45 or Ethernet connection to a phone port or RJ11 type. What I have seen so far was a converter for a USB port to RJ45. If you could still ask the salesman about this, and maybe he could direct where you can get a hold of this converter that he is talking about.
