Windows freezes after startup

After I startup my laptop, after about 10 - 15 minutes the laptop freezes.

How do I stop this?

I deleted the temp files, cookies etc.
I removed the unnecessary startup programs
Then tried running checkdisk but it froze midway through....
I dont think it's worth trying diskdefrag as it'll prob freeze

Any help would be appreciated....

Its better to backup your data - booting from Ultimate Boot CD and backup to an external hard drive.
Try to do regular format or low level format to know the status of the hard disk

Freezing up laptop


many things will make it freeze... the biggest reason is a virus or malware.. 2nd will be a bad hard drive... DO NOT take it to best buy.. craigslist has many competent people that will fix it for far far far less that the best buy scammers

Follow these steps to fix computer freezes problem::
  • Remove unused programs
  • Install and run antispyware software
  • Free up wasted space with Disk Cleanup tool
  • Defragment your hard disk drive
  • Disconnect unused network connections:


Click Start, and then click My Computer.
On the Tools menu, click Disconnect Network Drive.
Select the network drives that you no longer need, and then click OK.

ALSO

Stop Unwanted startup programs:

Start > Run > write msconfig > Click on StartUp tab

Deselect the programs you want to stop


Delete Temporary Internet Files:
Click Start - Run, type in %temp% and then click OK.


Once that temp folder is open and you can view its contents, select and delete EVERYTHING that's inside it.
Repeat the steps with c:\windows\temp

After you're done with both temp folders, restart the computer.



Services:

Click Start, type services.msc in the Search box. Press ENTER. Right click and stop each service which is not necessary for you.

Computer slow when shut down slow takes about four minutes


Steps 1.Kimdly diasble the all startup function (opent the run command and type MSCONFIG and automatiocally open one window and choose the STARTUP and diasable the all function)
2.kindly delete the all temporary file(open the run command and type %temp% and select the all file and then press SHIFT+DELETE,Sir.
3.And also delete the all the prefetch file
4.and also increase your catch memory,Sir.
5.And also increase your virtual memory,Sir.
Right click over the mycomputer and choose the properties and then choose the advance tab and then click the setting below the performance and then again click the advance and then choose the virtual
memory,Sir?

They freeze and play, freeze and play the whole video


Press on Window button and "r" on the keyboard type Temp when temp window open delete all of the temp files. Then again press window button and 'R' type %temp% then delete all of the files from the window. after deletin the files again press windows + "r" then type 'msconfig' go to start up then uncheck unwanted software from the start up and click on applay and OK, Then restart the computer.

Corrupted Registry

Trying to play games on yahoo, ican get all the


delete your cookies, browsing history and temp files. If that doesn't work click on either your vista logo or start button in the bottom left hand corner. In the run box type the word MSCONFIG, press enter. Click on the startup tab. Click on the disable all button then click on apply, OK and let the machine reboot. This will stop alot of the programs from starting up when you boot into windows. See if this works.

Ever so slow response to typing an email using Hotmail


hey here are somethings you need to do.

1) Open internet explorer -> Tools-> Internet options ->General -> Browsing History -> Delete -> Check all boxes -> Delete. (IE 8, The process is quite similar in other browsers as well)

2)For XP
Start-> Run-> type temp-> Ok-> Select all-> (Shift +Delete)

For vista
Start-> Start Search-> type temp-> Ok-> Select all-> (Shift +Delete)

3) For XP
Start-> Run -> type %temp%-> Ok-> Select all -> (shift+delete)

For Vista
Start-> Start Search-> type %temp%-> Ok-> Select all-> (Shift +Delete)

4) Turn off laptop, Remove battery , Remove AC adapter, Press power button for 2 minutes. Put both back on. Turn on laptop.

5) Run virus scan and check for malware and other virus related issues. If anything is found delete the infected files.

6)
For XP
Go to Control Panel-> Add and remove programs-> Remove all unnecessary softwares

For Vista
Go to Control Panel-> programs-> Installed Progams->Remove all unnecessary softwares

7)
For XP
Run-> msconfig-> Startup->Disable all

For Vista
Start search -> msconfig -> Startup -> Disable all

Check for the system RAM. If your laptop has 2 memory cards installed. One might have failed. So try to remove it and fix it back again and check

hi
please follow below steps :-
1- disk cleanup in C drive. right click on C: drive and click on properties and click on disk cleanup button.
2- type TEMP in run command and delete all file in open windows.
type in %temp% in run command and delete all files in open windows
3- try to download superantispyware and smitfraudfix.exe for delete infected files.
