Radio will not go off when truck is shut off and key is removed. 2005 Tundra

  • Anonymous Feb 07, 2010

Thanks - this all makes sense, but I should have also included that it was not always like this. Turn the key off, the radio went off.One morning I went out and the radio was playing, it came on sometime during the night, all by itself. No key, nothing.

Hi !
There are 2 ways to connect the radio..
1... directly to the battery... which is in your case.
2... connect through the ignation switch.... which will put off the radio every time you switch off the ingation key.

All you have to do is re-wire the power connection through the ignation..

Regards
Berry

Cannot fully insert replacement ignition lock cylinder , it is identical to original, 2005 tundra

From memory, all ignition locks have a small catch to make removal difficult. There is a small hole you have to press a paper clip or similar into it to release the catch.

Videos. Ignore door locks.

When I turn off My 2005 equinox the radio shuts off but the speakers keep crackling and the power steering isn't locking?

Take the key out and turn steering as now the power steering will lock. The speakers crackle when the volume on radio are very high when you turned off engine and removed key. Try turning radio off first the turn off engine and it should not be a problem.

My tundra wont start but all the lights and radio

That might be a possibility. Asssuming when you say it wont start you mean it won't crank over. First check battery voltage at the battery with a dvm when you turn the key to the start position. Then check the voltage at the starter when you turn the key to the start position. If both readings are the same and you must have a reading of at least 12dcv. Try turning the ignition key to the on position( not the start) and jump the positive voltage from the starter to the solenoid terminal. The starter should crank over if the proper voltage is present. If the starter just clicks or just attemps to start. yes, you need to replace your starter

Just replaced battery on 2005 tundra, how do I reset the vehicle alarm. The alarm now sounds whenever I open the doors.

Anytime the alarm sounds when opening the door with the key, get into the truck anyway, place the key into the ignition key switch and turn it on and off 2 times. The horn will stop blowing and the lights will stop flashing. You're ready to go.......

Take out dash(tundra) for antenna installation

You could do an antenna installation without removing the dash. Take out the center assembly with the radio and hvac controls and the glove box. You'll have enough access to run the antenna wire from its stock location to the radio.
