Hi,

a ) possible that built in switch inside the headphone jack is stucked,

here is a sample illustration:

i have headphones plugged into - dcf19e4.jpg

those contacts breaks whenever a plug is connected, it is normally

close,

In your case the speaker is electrically disconnected whenever

a plug is connected.

Although in some cases, headphones jack have separate audio

amplifiers.

b ) Here is just a suggestion, you can use external headphones

amplifier if you intend to hear the sound or music privately,

some computer speakers have one on them.

c ) Should you feel to DIY , have an electronic contact cleaner and

spray the headphone jack with it. ( you can find it , in your nearest

electronic store ).

hope these helps

it might be better if you could post the make and model of the unit you are having!

  • Anonymous Feb 07, 2010

have a visual on the headphone jack, if it have more than 3 pins on it,

    then it includes speaker/headphone switch.

have it replaced if it is more than three ( 3 )

  • Anonymous Feb 07, 2010

have you checked the headphone jack( where you plugged the headphone plug ) ?

how many pins that it have?

  • Anonymous Feb 07, 2010

it is most likely on your headphone jack

  • Anonymous Feb 07, 2010

if it looks like these , you may need to replace it

  • Anonymous Feb 07, 2010

if it is audio in, then headphones cannot be controlled by that jack

  • Anonymous Feb 07, 2010

you may need to make one, can you DIY?

  • Anonymous Feb 07, 2010

have to get one like in the last image,

a ) one is common or ground

b ) two pins will be for speaker

c ) two pins will be for original wiring

also needing wire for headphone jack

    30 watts soldering iron

    good soldering lead

    a multimeter

HOW DO I GET SOUND ???

Your HP Pavilion F1903 monitor does not have built-in speakers. Your desktop computer probably did not come with speakers. You will have to plug computer speakers into the audio-out jack (green) on the back of your computer to play through external speakers.

There are also a number of USB speaker systems available that use USB both for power and for the audio signal.

Alternatively, there is probably an earphone jack on the front panel of your computer. If you plug headphones into that you should be able to listen on your headphones.

Speaker in/speaker out not working

Are you feeding the monitor via an HDMI connection? HDMI carries digital audio as well as digital video signals. If using DVI or VGA to connect it to your PC, there is no audio being fed to the monitor, so nothing can come out, unless you have a separate audio cable running to the monitor as well from the computer :o)

No Speaker Sound, Thinks Headphones are Plugged in

If you don't plan on using the headphones - take the cover off and there may be a cable to the headphone jack board that can be unplugged. This will disable the headphone jack from sending a bad signal to the micro. If you want to be able to use the headphone, then the jack is going to have to be replaced.

My computer is a SyncMasterP2570HD i cant get any sound to come out but it is detecting sound how do i fix it

The Samsung SyncMaster P2570hd is a monitor with speakers; it isn't the computer itself. I'll assume that you are dealing with a computer connected to the monitor and not a set-top box. Make sure that Mute is not enabled on the computer. There should be an icon on the lower right hand side of a Windows desktop. If the mute is enabled, it will have a red circle with a diagonal line through it. Left click on the icon to remove the mute (change the volume or click on the mute icon). Test the monitor's speakers by connecting it to another device with known good audio output.

Next how are you connecting the monitor to the computer (VGA, DVI or HDMI)? If you are using VGA or DVI (including DVI to HDMI), you need to connect an audio patch cable (3.5 mm) between the speaker (green port on the back of a sound card) or headphone jack of the computer and the audio input jack of the monitor. The audio input jack is between the DVI and VGA ports. You can test the output of the speaker jack on the computer with regular computer speakers. Plug in the power cord (or USB cable) for powered speakers. If the free-standing speakers work, check the volume setting on the monitor with the +/- buttons to the right of the menu button. Do not press menu first, though. If that doesn't solve the problem, continue using the separate speakers. (Unless the monitor is still under warranty, it usually isn't worth taking apart a monitor to replace the speakers. You may be able find replacement parts online.)

If you are using an HDMI cable, check the output audio setting to see if the HDMI audio is available. For Windows, click on Start > Control Panel > Hardware and Sound (Windows 7). Then click on Manage Audio Devices under Sound. In the Playback tab, check what available audio devices you have. Make the HDMI the default device by right-clicking on it and selecting Make this the default device. (Other versions of Windows will a slightly different route to this panel.) You may need to restart the computer to get the audio signal on the HDMI cable after setting this. Note: not all video cards/computers support HDMI audio. If you don't see HDMI listed in the Playback devices, connect an audio patch cable as with a VGA or DVI cable, described above. Use stand-alone speakers if the monitor's speakers are bad.

I hope this helps.

(I have had the speakers fail in monitors; <$30 separate speakers are an adequate replacement for those built into a flat panel monitor.)

Why is the sound not working on my acer screen

How do you have the screen plugged in?
If via HDMI, audio should go to your screen, but you may need to output to speakers (that is, if your monitor does not have built-in speakers).
If indeed outputting via HDMI, make sure your computer KNOWS it's supposed to output audio through the HDMI port as well as the video.
Finally, you might just need to plug speakers/headphones into the monitor - most have an audio jack on the underside, by the stand.

Is there any way to use headphones on the HP 2159m computer monitor? possibly external computer speakers? I have a desktop computer connected to the monitor by a HDMI cable.

There is no audio output on that monitor. So decoding the HDMI into analog is out. However, the simple fix is to plug your speakers or headphones into the green 3.5mm headphone jack on the back of your computer, and change the default audio device in windows. You can use both audio cards at once for different tasks, such as having someones voice come over your HDMI cable on the monitor, while listening to music on the audio out of your computer.

If you need any help setting the audio card, let me know.

Can 2.1 pc speakers work thru headphone jacks?

No it's not possible to have a sound. Because the HDMI and the Headphone (3.5mm jack) are on two different technologies.

The monitor does not have a way to convert the sound from HDMI to Headphone.

There could be a converter that might convert the sound signal from HDMI to headphone (but I'm not sure).

No sound

Dear marco1983,

there are no speakers on G2400W, just the plug hole for speakers that routes forward the sound signal from the HDMI signal.
