Question about Canon PIXMA MX300 All-in-One Printer
If you are using a MAC, i believe there is a known issue in scanning (no response even after pushing the button)
There is a special tool (MP Navigator EX X.X Opener) from the download site to install it. Click this link CANON

I fix many printers, and I can tell you that a common cause for this is a defective or too long USB data cable.
A problem with the USB cable on one of the data lines can cause the scanner not working , and will not affect in any way the printer functions.
Try replacing the USB data cable. It may look strange, but after driver problems, this is the most common fault that can cause the printer working and the scanner unit not responding on an All in One printer.
