    Hi Ginko,

I am sorry, I went out so I couldn't followup on your solution. You are great man, it works now. Here is the summary of what I did or tried:

    Change USB cable

    uninstall driver

    restart computer

    install new driver

    connect USB cable

    result___still has the same problem

I did all of the above with different lap top and it works. Only thing is when scan window opens it say trying to connect to device and if go ahead and hit start button anyway it comes with the following message:

"an error has occured while attempting to import. Either the source is unavailable or the detination is full or read only"

I checked at the top of the window where it is importing from(source) it says drive D or CD drive. If I manuualy change this to Canon mixer300 and hit start it opens with a new window with scan button.

If you hit scan now it works.

My question is why source comes with drive D instead of canon300. I didn't have to do this before?

How I can I fix this problem so when I hit scan it should start scaning as it used to do.

    Don

Hi,

If you are using a MAC, i believe there is a known issue in scanning (no response even after pushing the button)

There is a special tool (MP Navigator EX X.X Opener) from the download site to install it. Click this link CANON

Hope this helps.

Hi.
I fix many printers, and I can tell you that a common cause for this is a defective or too long USB data cable.
A problem with the USB cable on one of the data lines can cause the scanner not working , and will not affect in any way the printer functions.

Try replacing the USB data cable. It may look strange, but after driver problems, this is the most common fault that can cause the printer working and the scanner unit not responding on an All in One printer.

Regards.

That is probably because you also changed the printer driver.

Go to the control panel, remove all the copies of the printer, and install the printer again. Disconnect the printer cable before starting this procedure. Keep the printer driver not connected until asked by the driver setup procedure.

If you do not have the driver disk, see: How to download driver for a Canon printer...

Hi, did you read my last comment. You may have also messed up the drivers.

    I repeat:

That is probably because you also changed the printer driver.

Go to the control panel, remove all the copies of the printer, and install the printer again. Disconnect the printer cable before starting this procedure. Keep the printer driver not connected until asked by the driver setup procedure.

If you do not have the driver disk, see: How to download driver for a Canon printer...

If that does not work, then test the printer on a different computer, rather than a communication problem, in that case there may be a fault.

Ensure you have the USB cable not connected when starting driver setup (you will be asked to connect during installation). If you connect USB before installing the drivers, Windows may install its own drivers.

    Regards.

How do you get the Canon MX300 printer to scan? I do not know what all you need for a printer to scan but when I press the scan button it just beeps and nothing happens.

Hİ,
First You must install "MP Navigator EX" program to your Pc..and then you can control every feature of the scanner from your computer..(not from scanner...)
This program normally comes with the MX300 as CD ,if not you can download from Canon support page....Good luck..Regards

What is the scan procedure for the canonpixma mx300?

First make sure you download the right driver/software for MX300 according to your OS. Then with the printer connected to the computer u can proceed:
press the scan button on the printer
then on your pc click my computer and u should then see the printer scanner at the end, right click on that and you will get the scan option.

I too couldn't do it for a bit then kept fiddling till i was able to and I have Windows XP.

Hope this helps.
