There is a lint build up either in the vent line or in the dryer, you should do a clean out on the dryer once a year so this doen't happen, unplug the dryer,go outside and make sure nothing is blocking the flapper,if it's clear go back inside and remove the vent line from the back of the dryer and blow it out if it's a long run,i use a leaf blower to do this, then remove the lint filter,if it's inside the dryer then you need to remove the front panel, take off the duct that the filter slides into and clean out the duct, also vac out the inside of dryer where the motor is,if the filter is on top take off the back wall and clean the duct there, you need to still vac the inside of the dryer,if it's a gas dryer you could have bad gas coils, they fail when they heat up,you'll need to check to see if the flame is lighting after 15 to 30 minutes,if it doesn't light change out the coils sitting on top of the gas valve, hope this helps

It is taking far too long to dry, this has only recently started? what could be the problem?

Does it get hot? If it does, then the problem is reduced air flow, caused by a lint filter that hasn't been cleaned, masses of fluff in the exhaust pipe (usually on bends), or the external vent not opening properly. Birds can also nest in the vent pipe if the vent isn't protected or is broken.

If it doesn't get hot, you need a new element. Some dryers have two elements if the dryer has a high and low setting. just one element can fail.

Dryer takes a long time to dry

If the dryer won't takes to long to dry, check the venting. A clogged or partially clogged vent will reduce the air flow through the dryer and greatly increase the drying time.

LG Dryer takes too long to dry clothes

Sure the outside vent is not clogged up? If so it will overheat and turn it self off and do a poor job of drying the clothes.

Also check and make sure that all of the heating elements are working properly.

I have a GE washer/dryer Model WSM2700RAWWH stack type and the dryer is taking very long time to dry the clothes. Please advise if it can be fixed. If not what will be best alternate washer/dryer stack...

first things first. if any dryer regardless of brand takes 2-3 hours to dry cloths 90% of the time it is your exhaust duct. take the exhaust duct off the back of the dryer and dry some clothes if the clothes dry fast then you need to have your exhaust duct cleaned. either DIY or call a professional
if it still takes a long time to dry then it could be the thermostats or the thermistor.
but in my experience its normally the exhaust duct.

Takes long to dry clothes

on your side, it is better you don't touch anything internal in the dryer as you can hurt yourself and spoil the device even more. have a professional take a look at it before you use it any further.

Dryer takes a long time to dry.

This sounds like the vent is plugged up. The dryer gets rid of moisture through the dryer vent and hose. When this gets plugged up it will take a long time to dry or the hi limit will shut it off. When the dryer vent or hose is partialy blocked it will take vary tong times to dry the clothes and will eventualy cause the dryer to stop drying all together.
