No socks can not fit through a screened vent. the tensioner pully has a bad bearing that keeps the drums belt tight

Dryer slow to start. push button several times to get started. pulls heavily on electricity and causes 120 surge protectors to pop. any ideas?

There are a number of reasons this could be happening. Is there any unusual noise coming from the machine during operation? Does the drum turn somewhat freely by hand? It is possible that something has gotten caught between the belt and the drum, I have seen many things from an errant sock, to seed corn (from pockets) to a dead mouse in dryers.

I'm a little confused about the 120V surge protectors used for this 240V machine. Is this a new setup for you?

I ran the dryer without the lint screen and am now 'missing' some socks. The dryer makes a rumbling noise. How do I get the socks out and did I break something

you better inspect inside the exhaust vent tubes for the socks. You did not break anything but they might start on fire later. You to take off the back of the dryer to take the vents apart.

A sock was accidentally sucked into the lint filter area, and now the dryer is making a loud noise.

Try to disconnect the filter and throw the sock away it is probably more holes than sock by now.

Dryer runs for about 3 minutes then won't start again. when I open door it's hotter than normal in the tub.

Hi alan cole196...

Check and clean if necessary your vent hose.
If you vent hose "seems" to be clean then, try running the dryer with the vent hose off and see if the dryer is not running hot anymore.
Make sure your lint screen is in place and has no tears or holes in it and is still firmly attached to the frame.
If you are running too hot you are not moving enough air thru the system.
It could be that the fan blade is plugged up.
The problem could be a large lint ball build up in the center of the fan or a sock, thin pants,a pen, etc. that has gotten into the fan by falling down the hole where the lint screen is normally inserted.
You have to find the air restriction to solve the problem.
It also can be a loose or worn out blower wheel/fan.
Please take time to rate me.

Ihave a whirlpool gas dryer and my wife droped a sock into the hole where the filter is. Made some noise and then seemed to work just fine. Where did the sock go and shoukd I be worried? Thank you

the sock ended up down below at the bottom where the vent fan blows, I would remove the back of the machine,, remove the vent housing inside, and you'll see the fan which runs off the back of the motor,, ( and probably the sock) and remove it , and any other debris thats collected there, Its a fairly simple task

Turn on it only hums

most likely a bad motor or something stopping the motor like a missing sock or cloth jammed into blower area..open door and spin tub while holding in door switch. a second person may be needed to turn on dryer at panel. if tub starts while turning tub by hand. you'll need a new motor. if still does not start..check for obstruction..no obstruction, bad motor

Direct drive Kenmore washer does not spin

. If water does not pump out and not spin, check lid swicth. If it pumps the water out but does not spin you could have one of the 3 following problems. Ck in this order. Drive couplin is bad between motor and transmission. usally will make a rattleing noise/chatter. Next possible clutch. While hold lid switch down with pencil or something small spin tub with hand. if it takes off and spin replace basket drive and possible clutch if doing this much tear down. last of the 3/ look around the sides of the basket holes with a flash light for something like a sock/ rag or something like that has gotten between the outer tub and basket. it is hard to see but with a good light you can see it or remove cabinit and check sides of outter tub . you can see through the tub.

Sock fell down lint vent and daughter turned on dryer

Turn off you power to the dryer and then,
You could run a coat hanger straightened out with a hook bent on the end of it into the lint vent at try to hook the sock.
But probably you will have to remove the back to follow the lint vent.
You may try to remove the vent hose and run the straightened coat hanger in there to try and remove the sock.
Hope this helps
