  • christian_sc Feb 09, 2010

thanks for your reply.I have checked all capacitors with my Capacitance meter all read ok.I checked some resistors but will concentrate on the voltage check. There is voltages feeding the main board from the power supply but I will check the value of each output.I am a Tv technician and have checked to the best of my knowledge and experience the usuals.Do you know of any common faults for this particular unit?It must be common as far as philips is concerned as both machine are showing the same symptoms.lastly do you know how to overide the protection circuit?

thanks for your help so far

Hi,

Servicing your unit requires a

Service Manual

only with a fee,

a ) Most likely power supply circuits, or a failed communication on the

circuits board.

b ) Possible causes can be from a resistor , to the low voltage

regulators on the SMPS , could also be from the feedback circuits

either in the " Power Supply Unit " or the Inverter Circuits

c ) Troubleshooting the unit , requires checking out the output

voltages of the power supply and check for possible bad capacitor .

d ) There are also instances that communication to the " Modules "

are failing thus triggering protection circuits or are activated.

e ) Here are the Voltage Output on the Power supply

i have two philips ftr9955/12 media boxes for - 1638794.jpg

f ) It can also be caused by a cracked solder joints on the circuit Board,

g ) Most likely osc are blocked

h ) Those are just possibilities there could be other causes , but try

those circuits first.

h ) Let me know if you need further assistance after you have started

probing around .( Only if you feel you can work on these circuits ).

Thanks for choosing Fixya for assistance!

Christian,

I think you have a ADC that went bad and needs to be checked out. You need to have a service adjustment done by your Service Tech. You just can't fix the ADC without clearing the buffers, and all the other procedures needed to fix this TV. I think your TV repair persons are probably just going over the complex procedures to fix your TV.

Good luck and have a great day!

Cannot upgrade my firmware on philips gogear muse 16gb mp4 player...

you can visit the Phillips support site www.philips.com/support

Enter your model number on the search box and download the Device/Firmware manager from the Software and driver section. You can now upgrade the firmware.

If you still have problem, I'd suggest that you repair your GoGear with Device manager. Here is how:

Launch Device Manager and click the Tool menu and select "Repair", then follow the instructions to perform the repair process. Make sure all other applications such as Philips Plug-in, Windows Media Player or Windows Explorer that access the device are closed or else Device Manager will not recognize the device.

Contents may be removed by using this function. So make sure to back up your contents.

Hope this helps.

I lost all my media! My player froze,so i reset it.And all is gone!!Is there anyway i can get it back?

not really, your filesystem most likely went corrupt and in fact to make the player work properly (you will be unable to add music most likely) you will need to use the philips device director to repair it. also when that is done, update the firmware (it might just start doing that in the first place, sometimes the ones i repair do. if the director is giving an error instead of repairing it all is not lost in my computer right click on your philips mp3 player's icon and click format this will clear the error and you can now update the firmware (a repair is not necessary) do not worry about ruining your mp3 player most likely your philips uses media player to transfer music so windows knows what it is. Hope this helps!

HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!:(

You should download and istall the Device Manager sofware from here:
http://www.p4c.philips.com/files/s/sa5285_02/sa5285_02_pal_eng.exe

After that run Device Manager and connect your player via USB. Device Manager should say, that your player reported an error and would you like to repair it. Press "yes" to start repair.

If the Device Manager doesn't give you the option to repair, you should turn off the player and connect it by pressing the volume up (+) button. This will turn on the automatic repair mode. After that, everything goes as I've written before.

Hope that I could helped!

Not charging

Your player is definitely defective - Philips considers mp3 players as not worth repairing, but you would most likely be eligible for an in-warranty replacement if you still have your receipt, and it was purchased within one year. Here is the contact info:

Can not start mp player error genarate memory is full

Your mp3 player is so full that it does not even have enough space to run a Repair. Connect the Philips to the computer, double-click My Computer, right click the Philips icon, and select Format --> Fat32 (or whatever is appropriate for your computer). Normally, I would not reccomend this type of formatting for a Philips, but it is probably our only chance at this point. After conducting the format, try the Repair in Philips Device Manager again.

Warning: All of your songs/files will be erased.

Lost memory on my philips gogear 2gb

3 different problems:
ashton -
If your GoGear is an HDD model, then it is incompatible with both Vista and Windows Media Player 11. If you have Vista, forget about this player. If you have XP, roll back your Windows Media Player to version 10 and try running a Repair in Philips Device Manager - the damage might already be done, but it is worth a shot.

If you have an SA model GoGear, get the latest Philips Device Manager from www.usasupport.philips.com. Make sure you enter your correct model # in the website, or you will damage your player. Run an Update in the updated Philips Device Manager to upgrade the firmware to fix the freezing issue. Philips has a weird quirk that if you want to really upgrade the firmware, you have to also update the Philips Device Manager first or the Device Manager from the CD will give you a false positive: "Your device is already up to date."

mwungura - You problem may be hardware related, which will require a replacement, but here's how we'll find out: First, make sure the hold/lock switch is not engaged. Try turning your player on again. Consult your manuals for details on what I have just said. Second, try resetting the player - the Philips website/user manual will tell you how to reset your particular GoGear. Third, download the latest version of your Philips Device Manager by going to Philips website. Once you have done that, first run the Update function to upgrade the firmware. Finally, run the Repair function in the updated Philips Device Manager. If all of the above methods fail, call Philips and find out how to get an in-warranty replacement (or take it back to the store).

Guest - your player is screwed - there is no software available for fixing that problem. Call Philips and find out how to get an in-warranty replacement (or take it back to the store). The problem was caused because you deleted a key system file when you were trying to delete music - next time, be very, very careful.
