But they told me to replace a number of capacitators that where bad, There is even a Guy in the UK that sold repair kits for that kind of problems with capacitators and a 2 resistors. I readed the feedback of they guy and that was really good. The internet is full with that problem but I didn't found yet a solution. And I readed in the service manual that you can reset the errors with the IR remote control by making a number of commands? And you can read out the error codes with a blinking led code ? kind regards

The relays clicking indicates a problem with the power supply board of the tv. Component level repairs are usually more difficult to perform on plasma power supplies. But you can try provided you have prior experience in electronics and know how to use a meter.

Let me know if this is the case so that I can help you DIY.

Cool! I will see if I have a service manual for this model. That should help you measure the voltages at the inicated location(where the LEd is blinking).

Hi,
Sounds like the power supply is bad. This is a common problem with this TV. If you were to remove the back cover (make sure it's unplugged of course) and examine the power supply. look at tops of the caps you wil notice most are flat on top, but if you see ones that are rounded or come to a peak on top they are bad and need replacement. Those parts are only a few dollars, but a repair shop will still charge a lot of labor probably and some will want to replace entire board rather than fix what is wrong. If you don't want to try it yourself shop around for best estimate.Good luck!

I think you have a ADC that went bad and needs to be checked out. You need to have a service adjustment done by your Service Tech. You just can't fix the ADC without clearing the buffers, and all the other procedures needed to fix this TV. I think your TV repair persons are probably just going over the complex procedures to fix your TV.

Good luck and have a great day!

You might have a bad B board. What's worse is that the power switch is connected to the Q board which works in conjunction with the B board. Replace B board, You can send your B board for repair to a company called modus link pts. They are the largest part supplier of after market parts and repair.

Many problems with philips can be solved by doing a software update which is done with a flash drive in the USB port. The only problem is your model number dosen't show up on philips web site. You may want to try to email them from their site to ask why your's dosent exist.

Power supply probably needs to be replaced if you don't even hear the relay click after the power is switched on.

42FD9954 philips plasma TV flashing LED it wont come on

The problem is in the standby power supply. the standby power supply generates the 9 volts and the 5 volts requird by the tv. If you measure the 9 volts source, with only the red light on, the correct voltage is 9 volts. However if the 9 volt measures 6.5 to 7 volts it is too low and the startup relays cannot operate. My set is a model 42FR9954/17S. In this set if capicator, 2603, is heated the voltage climbs to 9 volts and the relays work. If cold air is applied to the capicator the relays fail to operate. Replace capacitor 2503 and the problen is fixed. This capicator is: 47 Ufd, rated @ 450 volts, and is 20%.
