Our washing machine ran over yesterday. The water continues to run even when the knob is off. We turned off the water valve and now it continues to drip in the machine. It was suppose to be runnning warm water and hot water ran in the machine. Wondering what part it might be, or if it could be our valve?
This is commonly caused by a water inlet valve that is leaking by, or a pressure switch malfunction. The following link explains how to diagnose which one may be causing the problem and repair:

There is a follow-on link included in the instructions I provided that explain how to replace the water inlet valve if you determine this to be the problem.
If your washer ALSO overflows, you may have a combination of BOTH problems. Double check your symptoms to be sure. A common problem that can occur with the pressure switch is the small rubber air hose comes off. When you open the operator console you can check to see if the air hose is still attached to the pressure switch. Without the air hose attached, the pressure swtich will not sense the pressure differential coming from the wash tub as the washer fills and will overflow. Just make sure the air hose is intact and has no splits, rips or clogs.
NOTE: The Pressure switch is located behind the load level/water level selector knob.
