had this problem and apparently there's a 'float switch' in the bottom of the machine. This switch is a safety cut off and when activated can not just stop the machine but trip the electrics in the house. the reason for it activating is when food clogs up the drainage bit water can not drain and fills up the bottom of the machine. this then activates the 'float switch' as a kind of safety cut off.
the way to sort it is to disconnect the machine from the mains and drain and water. empty the clogged up food from the drain bit. then tip the machine back and a load of water will pour out (may need a load of towels for this bit or take the machine out the back and do it)
once this is done, plug it all back in and give it a try

SOURCE: Tripping out RCD
It may be the element has a tiny hole in it somewhere, I had the same problem, and found a minute pin hole under some corrosion on the element. This was allowing the power in the element to circuit to the metal casing, and trip the RCD, but only just enough to trip it, not enough to show on my DMM. Hope this helps.

take the kick panel off. On some smeg, there is a small suppressor capacitor on the lhs tucked in the wiring. this breaks down. snip it off - no need to replace

SOURCE: Dishwasher tripping fuse box
Has the door got any heavier, as mine started tripping the electrics when a spring broke and short circuited the connections.
f so you will have to get the spring out, from the underneath is best and replace it if you want the door to work correctly again. On mine the second one went a month later.

SOURCE: idw604 error code e4
had same problem. Tilt dishwasher to the left and drain all the water (it will come out on the side). That's E4 solved. Now turn it on, E4 should not light up. If it does, turn it on and as soon as u do this, close the door. This won't activate the Trip Switch but will automatically turn the pump on. Good luck!
