Hi,
As you have informed that the Dishwasher is getting stuck in a cycle and running for hrs, my advice would be to check:

1. If the dishwasher is preheating the water properly or not, because if it is so the water entering the dishwasher is cool, the heater may take up to half an hour to heat the water. To avoid the wait, increase the incoming water temperature before turning on the dishwasher. Do that by running the kitchen sink faucet until the water runs hot. Or increase the temperature of the hot water to the entire house at the hot water heater. (To lessen the risk of scalding, don't set the hot water heater temperature higher than 120 degrees Fahrenheit.)
2. Also you would need to check if the dishwasher is heat the wash and/or rinse water to a higher temperature, as the cycle calls for it. In these cycles, the dishwasher pauses after it has filled with water, waiting for the water to reach the pre-set temperature. What happens next, depends, as follows: On some units, the pause is timed and the unit continues after the allotted time. On others, the cycle can't continue until the water reaches the higher temperature. If you have this type of dishwasher and the water isn't being heated (say, because of a problem with the heating element or thermostat), after the unit stops at the heating cycle, it never continues. When you repair the heating-system problem, the "cycle problem" is fixed too.
3. Last thing I would want you to check is for the TIMER. Timers don't often fail. But if every other part of the dishwasher seems to be working properly and the timer knob seems to be stuck in one place--doing one function continuously--the timer may be at fault. Dishwasher timers can't be repaired. If yours is defective, replace it

The cycle doesn't complete
If the cycle doesn't complete, check these:
Water-heating cycle
Many dishwashers heat the wash and/or rinse water to a higher temperature, as the cycle calls for it. In these cycles, the dishwasher pauses after it has filled with water, waiting for the water to reach the pre-set temperature. What happens next, depends, as follows:
On some units, the pause is timed and the unit continues after the allotted time.
Timer
Timers don't often fail. But if every other part of the dishwasher seems to be working properly and the timer knob seems to be stuck in one place--doing one function continuously--the timer may be at fault. Dishwasher timers can't be repaired. If yours is defective, replace it.

The cycles times are too long
If your dishwasher's cycle times are too long, check these:
Water pre-heating

Your dishwasher may pre-heat the water. If so, and if the water entering the dishwasher is cool, the heater may take up to half an hour to heat the water.
To avoid the wait, increase the incoming water temperature before turning on the dishwasher. Do that by running the kitchen sink faucet until the water runs hot. Or increase the temperature of the hot water to the entire house at the hot water heater.
Warning! To lessen the risk of scalding, don't set the hot water heater temperature higher than 120 degrees Fahrenheit.

Dishwasher runs too long

Good Morning Tessa,

I understand that your Frigidaire dishwasher, model# FDB700BFC, is running too long. I also see that it seems to be getting stuck on one particular cycle and runs continuously for hours even though the water is hot. It sounds like there is possibly a miscommunication between the different boards inside your appliance. I please ask that you try resetting your dishwasher, by either unplugging it or shutting the power off at your home's circuit breaker, for 20-30 minutes. Once power is restored, try running any cycle. I ask that you please follow up with a comment on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if your appliances status has changed successfully. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-

I have a frigidaire FMB1100RHMO and first i was having a water problem and then i got the clog out. I have water pressure now but now it get stuck in the wash mode and dont come out unless i cancel it....

Hello Theresa Norman-Ramirez - Typically, it is normal for the dishwasher to delay the cycle and depending on the cycle and options selected, the cycle may last up to 4 hours. To reduce cycle time, turn on the hot water at the sink and allow it to get as hot as possible (between 120 F-130 F), then start the dishwasher. If the dishwasher cycle runs longer than 4 hours the main control board may need replacing. I would suggest contacting an experienced service technician to determine the precise cause.

My frigidaire dishwasher model fdb641ras1 controle lights dont light and soap despser dosent open but machean runs

Hi glennjorgens - Try resetting the dishwasher by unplugging it or flipping the household circuit breaker off. Wait approximately ten minutes and if it proves to be ineffective contact a professional to move forward accurately. Unit could possibly be experiencing a communication issue with the control panel or wiring failure which would need further diagnosing.

Dishwashe FDB510LC50 gets stck on wash cycle untl

Most probable failure is the thermostat that senses the water temperature. The way to test it to run a cycle with all the options turned off. It it completes the cycle normally, then it's the thermostat (part number 154290204), if it still takes hours, then it's a board/timer

Frigidaire dishwasher won't end cycle - will run on and on for hours. Sometimes it cycles through, usually it just endlessly washes and rinses. I have to CANCEL the cycle, which causes the dishwasher to...

I would say the resettable thermostat has failed. There is a thermostat which senses the water temperature, and when it fails, it causes the dishwasher to run constant. Replace the thermostat underneath the dishwasher and that should cure problem. Part number is 154290204 (I know the number off by heart, that's how often it happens!)

you seem to be stuck in a 'quick rinse' cycle. double check your buttons as well as your timer/dial to see if you are using the normal wash cycle. especially check the buttons. good luck

Dishwasher runs several hours

OK, that several hour wash cycle seems to be very abnormal and, the only way this can happen is if the timer control mechanism is damaged. this is referred to as a Overrun error. simply replacing the timer will fix this issue.

Whirlpool gold dishwasher gets stuck at 53 minutes left for an hour

Try "resetting" the control board by running the diagnostic cycle. The cycle completes in 15 minutes.
The details are in the service manual. The manual can be found hidden behind the tow plate (at the very bottom front of the washer).
The diagnostic cycle may tell you the problem. It also helps clear up some of the software gltiches.
It is easy to run the diagnostic cycle.
Just the buttons in the following sequence. The sequence should be complete within 6 sec.
heated dry -> Normal -> heated dry -> Normal
This will trigger diagnostic cycle of 19 intervals. Pay special attention to the intervals 18, 17, 9, 6, 4.
Interval 18 - displays your controller module number (should be letter 'd' followed by number 0 or 1 or 2 or something. Note that down for future reference.
Interval 17 displays 'software generation number' Note that down for future reference.
Then wait until you reach interval 9.  --- clean LED turns on - then an open or shorted thermister is detected.
-- Sanitized LED turns on - then the washer detected greater than 100 deg F temperature
Interval 7
-- Soaking/sensing LED should NOT come on (unless food soil is present).
Interval 4 -- Soaking/sensing LED should come on

Let the cycle complete and then try running the normal wash. Hopefully the possible glitches are cleared by now and you should have no problem.
If this doesn't work, time to call the expert tech.
