When i start the computer up, it always comes up with a screen saying: "windows boot manager choose an operating system to start, or press TAB to select a tool: windows 7 tools: windows memory diagno

Noramlly this happens only if u have 2 or more operating systems on your pc and this is helpful in that case.
Anyway if u wanna get rid of this, then download and install EasyBCD and open it.
Then go to "change settings" menu and set bootloader timeout to '0'.
Your problem should be solved, Additionally, you can check "add/remove entries" menu in EasyBCD and delete any entries other than windows 7.

Aspire d257 Info: the select entry could not be loaded because the application is missing or corrupt

If this only comes up during startup? Try disabling startup programs. Go to Start > Run (search in Win 7) and type MSConfig. In Startup tab, uncheck anything that you don't want Windows to load automatically. It will make Windows boot faster and use less resources while running. This just disables them in startup. Programs will still load, but when only you initiate.

My rebooted my advent 4211-b netbook to factory setting by the tech guys on the netbook but now my netbook wont start up, it says the window boot configuration data file does not contain a valid os entry

Welcome to Fixya

Error means the boot files are missing or damaged. Try to restore the computer using the disk that came with it instead of using the recovery console.

Thank you for using Fixya!

Hi, I have an Advent 4211b and tried to run Tech Guys systems Recovery. Now it keeps loading into Windows Boot Manager, where it tells me that windows has failed to start, It gives the following...

I can't help you recover from the problem, but I can tell you what the problem is. What is happening is, when you tried to recover, it messed with your boot partition for your install. You probably tried to restore a partition. So, what happens is when windows tries to start, it is getting references to software that is not where it should be, or more to the point, not configured with the correct registry entries.

Your best bet is to wipe the drive completely, run a clean windows install and then restore only the files you need restored. That way it will not try overwriting your boot partition again.

I hope this sheds some light on the situation. Good luck!

It will not reboot the message 'boot manager is compressed' is displayed and will not move past it

Check points for fixing compressed boot-manager:
  • Boot into Windows Recovery Environment (usually the install DVD or Create a Windows Vista/7 Recovery disk on an USB stick) and perform a "Startup Repair".
  • If the above doesn't solve the problem then boot into WinRE again, but when selecting the Vista-installation, then press "Load Drivers" (Instead of "Next") and use the mini Windows Explorer to right-click the boot-drive and deselect "Compress this Drive" and choose Apply to sub-folders and files.
  • If that also fails then boot into WinRE again, and go to the "Command Prompt" and execute these commands:
    • compact /U C:\bootmgr
    • compact /U C:\ntldr
  • If you for some strange reason have lost your Vista DVD, then you can also use a Windows 2000 / XP install CD and enter the recovery console instead and execute the following commands:
    • attrib -c c:\bootmgr
    • attrib -c c:\ntldr

Try to start up in Safe Mode press F8. Choose Safe Mode, when at the choice window, to select either Safe Mode Desktop, OR System Restore, chooses system restore and choose a time before you had the "Problem" and follow instructions. This should get you back.

My netook ADVENT 4211C is saying BOOTMGR missing I do not have CD Rom in it I am trying install windows xp by usb but it is not reading the USB What should I do ....???

Hi,

You should be able to recover the operating system from the hidden partition on the hard drive.

  1. When the PC starts you will see a menu for two seconds. Press the UP or DOWN arrow and this will pause the menu and allow you to choose an option.
  2. Highlight The TechGuys Recovery and press the Enter key.
  3. This will load into the recovery program.
  4. Select Reinstall Windows by clicking on the circle to the left.
  5. Click the right arrow.
  6. Put a tick in the box next to Start Full Destructive Recovery.
  7. Click the right arrow to start Recovery.
  8. When Recovery has completed, click the right arrow to restart the system.
  9. Your computer will then return you to its initial out-of-box experience.

Note - The data on your hard drive will be permanently deleted. Please save all important files and documents to an external device before you begin. This includes your emails, Works/Office documents, internet favourites, music, photos and videos files.
Setting the boot priority
In order to boot from a USB memory stick (pen drive) or SD card, your computer must have the correct boot priority. To check this is set correctly, follow the steps below:
  1. Power down your PC for a few seconds, then power it up again and tap the DEL key several times as it loads. This will display a grey screen with blue title bar saying Aptio Setup Utility.
  2. Press the right-arrow key on the keyboard until Boot is highlighted.
  3. Highlight Boot Option #1. Press ENTER.
  4. Select USB HardDisk from the list and press ENTER.
  5. Highlight Boot Option #2. Press ENTER.
  6. Select Hard Disk from the list and press ENTER.
  7. Press the right-arrow key on the keyboard until Save & Exit is highlighted.
  8. Insert the Recovery Backup media and press ENTER.
Note: The System Recovery utility will reinstall all hardware and software supplied with your Advent Netbook. However, you will need to reinstall any additional software and hardware that you may have added. Please refer to the documentation supplied with those products for further help.
Recovering from a USB memory stick (pen drive) / SD card
  1. With your USB memory stick or SD card inserted, reboot your computer. This will load into the recovery program.
  2. Select Reinstall Windows by clicking on the circle to the left.
  3. Click the right arrow.
  4. Put a tick in the box next to Start Full Destructive Recovery.
  5. Click the right arrow to start Recovery.
  6. When Recovery has completed, remove the Recovery Backup media and click the right arrow to restart the system.
  7. Your computer will then return you to the initial Windows out-of-box experience setup screens.

Good luck.
