Hi,

Your imac 27 nor the panasonic SAHT500 doesnt have a special method for connecting each other..

But you can connect thesedevices using a generic way,

You need a special cable ie, RCA to 3.5mm connector for connecting these two devices..

You can buy the cable from the following link

http://www.amazon.com/Dayton-3-5RCA-1-5-3-5mm-Stereo-Cable/dp/B000F7R9H0

In your Home theater make use of your VCR AUDIO In or TV AUDIO IN, to connect your IMAC Audio out, using these cable..

Connect Audio out of your IMAC to any one those connector..Please have a look of these conenctors for your reference

Please leave me comment, if you need further assistance
Thanks for using Fixya!

I have a panasonic SC-HT500 SYSTEM BUT MAIN DVD UNIT IS NO GOOD AND I WOULD LIKE TO BUY A REPLACEMENT AS ALL THE SPEAKERS ARE WORKING PERFECTLY, IDEALLY I WOULD LIKE A BLU RAY UNIT IF POSSIBLE

http://www.retrevo.com/support/Panasonic-SC-HT500-Home-Theater-Systems-manual/id/22986dj593/t/2/

I'd look for another base unit identical to yours (SA-HT500), say, on eBay and buy a BluRay for future compatibility with any components you might decide to upgrade to. Or just skip that part and upgrade now.

On page 6 it specifically says to use only the supplied speakers.

"Use only supplied speakers

Using other speakers can damage the unit and sound quality will be negatively affected."

I'd take that to mean you really don't want to redeploy the speakers to other electronics either. Theater in a Box is designed as a package. That proprietary cable connector is a huge clue and disincentive to attaching it to other electronics.

Replacing Panasonic SA-HT500 with Newer Model that has HDMI Input

ANY amp will be ok, as long as the wattage of your new amp does not exceed the wattage of your speakers. Otherwise you could overdrive your speakers and damage them. First clue, if you turn up the volume and the speakers start to shut off and on you are pushing too much power to them.

Want to play my playstation thru my sa ht500 system

You will not be able to get full surround from your Playstation using this home theater system - if you use a red/white composite AV cable and connect it to the area marked TV AUDIO IN on the back of the Panasonic, you will be able to get stereo sound.

PANASONIC DVD HOME THEATRE SOUND SYSTEM SA-HT500

The SC-HT500 is only for use in the UK, Ireland, Australia, and a few other places - you will need at least a transformer if you want to try to use it in the US. The manual can be found here:

Its possible connect a 5.1 sound pc card to Panasonic SC-HT500 hearing the 6 separate channels?

I am afraid the answer is no - this particular Panasonic will only play full surround when watching DVDs. It does not have the right inputs to grab more than stereo sound from your computer.
