Apples don't use a BIOS. They use an Extensible Firmware Interface (EFI) instead. I am not sure if Apple ever made a way into the EFI.

Hi

The Intel Mac do not use BIOS. There is an alternative boot firmware called EFI .In contrast to BIOS a portion of EFI is installed on a partion on the Hard drive There is no way into EFI the closest thing you can get into is verbose mode ( I think that's this is called)

Thanks

If you want to boot from the optical drive, hold down the C key when you power on the Mac. You can also hold down the option key and it will give you a choice of all bootable drives.

Locating and enabling the gps on my macbook a1342

This model does not include a GPS built-in or otherwise. In fact, other than iphones and maybe ipads none of the Apple computers themselves come with GPS built-in. That would be a huge pain in the neck anyway . . .

I cant track my macbook. do i need to install a gps device?

Check out LoJack to see if it can be installed on the computer. If it ever gets lost that can locate it and shut it down and even erase the hard drive if necessary

Macbook a1342 problem

Use a mouse to uninstall and then update the drivers for the trackpad. There may be an issue with driver corruption, or a device conflict causing the problem.

My MacBook A1342 slow booting

2 Gig of RAM is not really that much. You should think about upgrading that.
You might try a PRAM reset or SMC reset which will probably help you some.

From what you're describing, it sounds like the card has been formatted. Dont' take any more photos with the card before you try recovering the deleted photos.
There are many options to choose from, and I have included some links below:

How change bootable device?

You can do this one of two ways

1. with the DVD in the laptop hold down the option button as the computer is starting this will bring you to a menu where you can your boot device.

or

2.With the laptop powered off again with the DVD in
Press the powerbutton and hold down the "c" key this will boot directly to the DVD

***It sounds like you have your boot device in the system preferences set to your XP disk. You can fix this once you boot the mac partion by selecting System Preferences then selecting Startup Disk and choosing the disk you want to boot the drive with.

How to enter the BIOS

The MacBook systems use Intel's Extensible Firmware Interface (EFI) rather than the traditional Macintosh ROM or PC BIOS.
So, no such thing as going into the BIOS for advanced setup on Intel Macs (like you can on a PC).
