Question about Verbatim VER95327 USB Hard Drive
My HD was working fine for several months and suddenly it stopped working. it still turns on but it just makes loud ticking noises whenever i turn it on and the pc does not read it.
I agree with "rotorcrafts", however, as proffessional data recovery is incredibly costly, I'd try a couple other things first. If you haven't already, try getting the drive to read in different positions, ie., upside down, on either side or end, and GENTLY tap the case when you try it. Sometimes the center platter bearing will "freeze" and a different orientation will allw it to spin up. You can also refrigerate the drive. Enclose it in a freezer bag when you take it out of the fridge to keep it from drawing condensation. The contraction of a lower temperature could free the bearing. Be prepared though. IF it spins up it may only do so ONCE! Be ready to copy your data, immediately.

Your HD has probably gone bad beyond repair. you should contact some data recovery shop if there was crucial data in the HD
