Question about Krups XP4030 Espresso Machine

Open Question

Krups XP4000 starts in 0 position too

Krups XP4000 turned on with power switch: not only the heating starts, but immediately the pump too, even with the turn switch in 0 position.

Normally only the heating should start, and I should be able to start the pump by turning the switch arm to the right after the heating LED goes off. So now I can make cold coffee with it.

Do you have a wiring diagram for that? Can it be the switch or is there a relais on the power module for the pump?

SOURCE: krups 453 coffee maker - won't to brew/heat

I just had the same failure, but fortunately, had already bought a used 10-cup unit a few months back as a spare.

The component in question is a thermal circuit breaker, of the sort which does not reset. Once activated, it is destroyed,

I have been unsuccessful locating the same component on the internet, but it seems to be a very high temperature unit, with the nomenclature "Tf 318 C" which because of the lower case "f", leads me to conclude that it's designed to trip at 318 degrees, C, or a very healthy 604 degrees, F.

Similar fuses in other appliances range around 230 degrees C (446 degrees F),  which is in the ballpark.

The failure is easy to verify.  If blown, there will be powdery white residue on the inside of the bottom plastic cover near the part.  Also, an ohmeter will show an open circuit across the contacts.  (Unplug the unit before measuring!)

Screws to remove the bottom cover are three tamper resistant torx screws.

If I am unable to find an exact replacement, I will use a thermal fuse in the same power and temperature range (10 Amps, 300 degrees C trip).

Because my unit unequivocably did not experience over temperature conditions, I suspect this is a component aging issue and that there is no other problem with the coffee maker.

Supporting this is the fact that the unit works fine after I moved the good part from my spare coffeemaker to the dead one.

SOURCE: hi, I need a 'joint

The part for your XP4000 is the brew head seal. A Google search turned them up here:

http://www.smallappliance.com/product.asp?cur=USD&cam=krups_parts&sid=18954&gid=18960&mid=15&pid=2870&prdCls=P&shopBy=Brand

This page is their Krups model list:

http://www.smallappliance.com/department.asp?cur=USD&cam=krups_parts&sid=18954&gid=18960&mid=15&shopBy=Brand

It doesn't show the XP962 but it gives their phone number and says to call if you don't see what you need. So maybe they can help.

In general, when you want to search for something on the Internet, start with a good search engine (I use Google but there are others of course) and give a search string like "krupps kp40000 parts". Then you can check out the links it gives you until you find what you need.

SOURCE: red blinking light on krups coffee maker

It means your water filter needs to be replaced. I wouldn't know this either as I found my coffee maker in a thrift shop, but I read it on Epinions a few minutes ago in a review.

Have you had any problems with splashing when brewing - some of the water missing the spout? I lose up to a cup of water and I'm stumped. The goldtone filter has to be pushed to go down into the unit, does this mean I'm putting it too far in and screwing up the stop n pour or something?

SOURCE: Krups Coffee pot stopped brewing after programming

OH Yeah!
That is the number one failure in these machines. (owned four of them)
The problem is one or both of the "twin" thermal fuses or the thermostat for water
heating and hotplate,( one in the same) has gone open. I have tried for a long time to locate correct replacement parts to no avail. I would STRONGLY not recommend trying to bypass as these are not only controls but a safety feature as well. I was lucky a wile back and found one without a carafe at a garage sale. used it for parts, now those have failed also. Really miss them. If I ever find a source for parts I will post it here with replacement procedure.

Fisher and Paykel Washer GW 609 when switched on at wall keeps pumping

The best bet is to have an authorized serviceman test the control board for continuity. It is out of phase and cannot reset to the normal start position.

If the pump is bone dry sometimes they refuse to pump. In the past I have found some soft tubing that will fit over the water inlet where the tank plugs in. I then fill the tube with water and pressurise it with my mouth while operating the pump. Often this is enough to prime the pump and start it pumping. The downside with a machine that old will probably be lack of new group head seals, you will probably find they are obsolete.

That is a faulty thermostat or a defective control board.

Contact Krups and have the machine replaced.

If it is brand new you should not be expected to figure it out, take it back to the shop. Any messing about with a brand new appliance can only harm your guarantee, let them figure it out. It sounds like the pump valves are dry or stuck.
