Question about Acer Aspire 5670 Notebook
Im having some issues with the keyboard and touchpad for my acer aspire 5670. Yesterday my touchpad and keyboard stopped working when i logged on to windows. I could use the keyboard entering bios and other things, but when XP is loaded It freezez. I try to uninstall the keyboard and touchpad device from the control panel -> system -> Device option but it also freezes.
Try to format disk and reinstall. Works great but when XP installation loading, its still the same problem. The computer have been working like 100% for 2 years and now this problem appear. I dont really think it is a mechanical problem cause it work perfectly before XP are loaded. Even tried it with BartPE and it works like a charm
anyone experience the same problem ?

I have Acer Aspire 5672WLMi laptop. I bought it in Summer 2006. (2yrs 6mths ago). Battery was still working about 30~40mins. average time.
Recently I had the same problem. Keyboard and touch pad stopped responding. But when I disconnect the battery the PC starts normally, replugging it pops-up the problem again. I tried all possible solutions; reinstalling keyboard and mouse drivers, formatting and reinstalling Windows XP, then Windows Vista. But no gain at all. (I couldn't find new battery to buy in my place).
I suspected that the battery is bad or the charging control integrated circuit inside PC is dammaged.
Lately I discovered that the problem is with Windows Operating System when I lunched Linux Ubuntu Operating System CD, the battery was working just fine. I encourage other users having the same problem to try that.
So, can anyone tell why Windows does that?

You can enter windows in normal mode when you remove the battery and boot with ac power on.
Disable the acpi compliant acpi battery module in the device manager.
reboot, now your keyboard and touchpad will work again.

Might seem ovious but you may want to try Acer support and look for a new Driver.. Also check under Control Panel...Mouse options... and also check device profiles to make sure windows isn't loading a "docked profile which may disable touchpad and laptop keybaord use.
