Start up blank screen...

for some instances.. it is because the the computer's automatic update is on... it automatically downloaded a file from microsoft.. it is a file that check's if the OS of the computer is genuine or fake...

do you experience reading notes like your window do not pass genuine validity??

the other cause of your problem...

as i analyze it is that you said you have some unclicked files it is cause by a virus...

you can't delete it because the virus prevents it...

usually even you only down load a file and save it on your desk top,it is unclickable too and cannot be deleted...

i suggest you scan your pc for anti virus, or back up your important files... burn it to a cd make sure you know all the files and don't put the unwanted files in it...burn it.. then format your pc...

i hope this is a help...

go into safemode for windows by pressing F8 repeatedly when the pc starts up.
while in safemode you can either uninstall mcAfee or disable it's start up
to disable its start up goto Start - Run(or search box) - in run type msconfig
when the box pops up click on the Startup tab
unclick anything that say McAfee. Then click on the Services tab
and unclick anything that says McAfee.
click on Ok then reboot
When the pc reboots check on "Don't Show again" in the system changed box

Reducing pc memory usage

Hi,

I suggest you turn OFF all start up Items on your system, these use the PC memory up as soon as Windows Starts. Stat up Items can be disable from MSCONFIG, Starup and just unclick the Application that needs to stop from running during start-up, NOTE make sure you do not disable any windows application in MSCONFIG start up Items.

After windows screen it goes blank, i know the lcd works because i can choose F2 or F12 and read and choose anything there however when i command it it just goes blank, no cursor, just blue / black ..blank

If the system will not complete boot, try the F8 boot menu and select safe mode and see if the system will boot to windows.
If the system boots to windows, you could have software issues or a startup item causing the system to hang at boot, try turning off the startup group items in MSCONFIG (Start, run, MSCONFIG) and see if the system will boot in normal mode.
If that is not help, hold the Fn Key while pressing the power buttong this should start PSA diagnostics on the system, see if any hardware fails

It might be due to faulty display driver, in this case you might need to reinstall display driver, but before that you can try one step-

1. Click on start.
2. Click on run.
3. Type msconfig.
4. Select Startup.
5. Uncheck all start up items.
6. Cick on Apply and then OK and cick on restart.

Hope this would fix the issue.

I wish to uninstall My Start toolbar and get rid of it a my homepage. Thank you.

To disable all unwanted start up items in vista, please follow the mentioned steps-

1. Click on the Vista start icon in the bottom left corner of your screen.
windows_start_logo.gif 2. Type MSCONFIG in the search box and then either press enter on your keyboard or double-click on the MSCONFIG program that appears in the search results.
vista_system_configuration.gif

Or, if you're already logged into Vista as an administrator, you may see a box asking you if you would like to continue.
admin_user_account_control.gif
4. Once you have successfully passed through Microsoft's User Account Control roadblock, Vista will launch Microsoft's System Configuration Utility. Click on the Startup tab.
vista_msconfig.gif
4. This takes you to a page with a list of "startup items." Startup items are programs that are automatically loaded every time you turn on your computer. Some startup programs are absolutely necessary, others are simply a waste of RAM.
vista_msconfig_startup_tab.gif
Please uncheck the ones that you don't want.

2- To change home page in Internet Explorer, please follow below mentioned steps-

1. Click on the Vista start icon in the bottom left corner of your screen.
windows_start_logo.gif
2. Type inetcpl.cpl in search and hit Enter key.

3. Click on tools tab and select Internet options.

4. Click on General tab and select use blank under home page.

5. Click on apply and then OK.

The home page would be blank.

Someone has put a password into your BIOS.
Ask people who have access to the PC if they have gone and put a password in it.
The Dell BIOS is made by Phoenix.

I have the BSOD problem - msconfig admin privileges

msconfig is just a nice GUI to the keys in registry, what you may have is a driver or disk problem.
run chkdsk C: /F (or /P if in repair console)
instead of running msconfig, run services.msc and disable everything that doesn't belong to microsoft.
with another computer, download Autoruns.zip
copy it to the troubled machine and run it via the command line.
It's a very nice utility, msconfig on steroids :)

No post screen, cant access cmos settings. but windows starts as usual just a blank screen til then?

Hi,
Its possible that your cmos settings were changed prior to this problem so as not to display cmos settings options at boot up. Have you tried resetting your cmos settings to fix the problem? You can do this by a jumper which is usually found on the mother board named "clr cmos" (clear cmos).
Let me know if this is of help or not.
Regards,
Graemevm
