Question about Canon PIXMA iP1600 Printer

1 Answer

Keep getting "paper jam" error msg when there is no paper jam. I have to physically tilt the printer toward me, almost at a 90 degrees to get it to feed the paper.

Sometimes paper jams consist of no more than a small sliver of paper that has peeled off of a sheet and lodged in one of the paper sensors. If you've removed the paper trays, opened every access cover and pulled out the toner cartridge, but still don't find a sheet of paper, you may need to look closer. In extreme cases, it may be necessary to remove feed roller assemblies to be able to check the entire paper path, although in practice I have personally never needed to do so. Finally, depending on the type of sensor, it could simply be a build-up of paper dust that causes the sensor to think there's a jam. Try blowing out the printer's innards with compressed air at low pressure (20-40 psi).

if that doesnt help... we ll have to go in for a bit unconventional method....

shaking the printer upside down a couple times does the trick usually...make sure u dont shake too violently....

if the above methods doesnt help you sort it out.... and if ur printer is past its warranty claims...
make use of the service manual for your printer found in the below link and try investigating the paper feeding mechanism for a shred of dust.. not necessarily a paper....

if it still doesnt help....it's sounding like the paper sensor flag either got stuck or broken when the paper got jammed and later may have been taken out

also what you can try is, take a piece of ~70lb cardstock, and with the POWER OFF, gently push this through the paper-path of the printer - this will help push anything else out that's in the way that may be blocking it.

Good luck...

Cannot get rid of error msg

Hello there
There may still be some thing there jamming it so try this.

This may work for you, it has worked for many here I given this advice so gave it a try it could work for you. Generally when this happens, something has fallen into the printer, or a piece of paper has been jammed in there.

First step, remove the ink cartridge, and turn the printer upside down and gently shake it, see if anything comes out.

If nothing goes, or you can't hear anything rattling around, get a piece of cardstock paper (60lb or heavier) and gently push this through the printer, to see if it will help push out what might be stuck in there.

And gave the rode that the ink slides on a good clean and maybe a bit oil on cloth and wipe the rod with it.

Please come back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one so I will keep on helping.

Canon MX700 - Error msg: Paper Output Slot - Paper Jammed. There is no paper jammed in the machine but I get the msg anyway.

1) Is there a way you can check if there is paper jammed other than looking in the front of the printer, maby the rear or bottom prehaps?
2) Try this link: http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=SupportDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=238&modelid=15651
3) Contact your printers manufacturers website.

Hi I had a paper jam in my MFC 8820d - I removed the cover and removed the paper but I still get a Paper Jam error msg. I powered down the machine and turned back on - still same error msg. I have removed...

This can sometimes be related to paper dust interfering with a sensor. A burst of canned air can fix the problem. Just pull out the toner, open all of the covers and spray air into all the little crevices. You might want to do this outside, in case toner is loose in ther, so as not to make a mess.

If you only purchased it on the 8/9/09 then it is still under guarantee so the cheapest fix is return it for replacement.

Printer jam

unplug the printer from the computer , disconnect the black box the power adapter from the back panel of the printer , turn the printer upside down and then gently tab on the printer . Clean and manually roll the paper tray rollers . open the printer cover and look for any obstructions , remove the cartridges and clean them using a damp soft cloth .put back the power adapter and try to copy something , if it still displays the same error msg then its an issue with the printer and you need to purchase a new one.

Do lemme you if it helps.

Brothe MFC-240C paper jam error msg won't clear

**, it is not fixed. I followed instructions on Brother web site and was able to find a piece of paper near the printhead, so I removed it. The printer makes a grinding sound when it tries to print and the same paper jam error returns and can't be cleared. I beleive that the printer repair cost will be more expensive than replacing it with a different printer, and it won't be Brother brand. I probably would not be able or have the tools to do any complicated repair job.

HP4 and PC LOAD LETTER MSG (and there is paper)

Hi, I assume you can run paper thru the manual feed without any problems? If so the paper sensor that detects the paper in the tray has either broken or fallen off! If you take the paper tray out and tilt the printer a little bit on it's back you should see a sensor that will swing back and forth its' solid black/plastic . The sensor is very cheap and I'm pretty sure this is the problem> Good Luck!!
