You need a new relay. You can purchase an entire kit which would be your best and easiest replacement. It is part number URCO410. The instructions will come in the kit. Its fairly inexpensive and will get you up and running for a few more years unless your compressor was damaged. Just read the instructions carefully and make sure your wiring is right because if you wire it wrong you will burn up your compressor windings.

Hope this helps _MJ_

The module you are talking baout should be the over load relay and ptc start should be on the right side of the compressor if it is smoking it needs to be replaced as soon as possible.

1986 dodge daytona smokes a lot

Hi Michael, I'm glad to help! When a vehicle starts to smoke, and I'm assuming you talking from the tailpipe. Its alway because there are worn parts, these parts could be anything from: Valve seals, Rings, PCV could be stop up, also on older model like yours, provided it has an auto-trans could be the modulator. This is a round cylinder looking object with a vacuum hose running to it which is attached to the side of the transmission. When it goes bad it will allow trans fluid to slip through it and it runs into the Intake Manifold and smokes out the tailpipe. As you see there are a lot of things that can cause an engine to smoke. You can check the rings by doing a "Cylinder Leak Down Test". The modulator, check it by simply unhooking the vacuum hose and if fluid runs out of the hose then replace the vacuum modulator NOTE: Provided it has a modulator. If both of these are OK, I suggest replacing the valve seals. Hope this helps and have an awesome day Michael.

Black smoke diesel6.5 turbo

first off, congrats, the 1548 post ive answered and no country stated. (im USA)
cars are not the same in all countries.
and you never stated that or the year.?
cars vary in DESIGN, every year, so,,,

btw, all Turbo;s are complex in nature. (controller and controls)
and the Turbo actually stops the black smoke, (reason it is so popular , besides power)
complex cars break more and are harder to fix, keep that in mind at puchase time.

and buy the FSM, for the car. so you can have the facts.

make sure you don't have an air leak at the springs or the compressor. but you may want to have the air suspension module checked for fault codes. the module itself may be the issue not processing the inputs correctly and mis-leveling the vehicle.

Something attached to copressor burned out

Start relay and overload. Depending on how the triangle goes on the compressor depends and which way they go back on.

No, not necessarily. That may be the relay. Replace it and everything may still work.

Smoke from compressor

That is your start relay. Some of the Whirlpools and Maytags use a relay that can burn up like you mentioned. Buy a new start relay and replace that old one.

6 yr old whirlpool fridge/freezer side by side - no cooling

If the compressor is not running at all and not cooling or freezing it is most likely that the control module is u/s or that the compressor is u/s. If the compressor is running it ios most likely that the control module and / or the thermostat is u/s, or that the unit needs regassing. Call a service engineer.
