Broan Allure QS2 Range Hood

Hello, A few weeks ago the lights and the fan stopped working on my
Range Hood. The small green indicator light still lights when I press the various fan power buttons, but there is no power to the lights or fan. What would cause BOTH of them to stop working?

I have already replaced with new bulbs and re-set the circuit-breaker in the
hopes of restoring power - but nothing has solved the problem. The Range Hood is hard wired on the same breaker as my ktchen lights and i have had no problems the 7 years I have had it.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Had same problem & fuse fixed it.
Before buying a new control board (approx $160), check the 3 amp fuse located on the inside of the vent on the control board. You have to take the light/bottom housing & black plastic air chute off to see control board/fuse.

I figured out what cause the fuse to blow. When one of the halogen light blown, it creates a instant short before the element clears, causing the control board to get a higher than normal current flow.Good job sbamga, I would never fine the control board in that mess of equipment assembly.

BINGO! This should be the first thing to look for. The best way to access the control board will be either to pull out the range so you have a good view of what you're doing, or to simply take down the range hood and work on it on the bench. An assortment of fuses can be found at your local Radio Shack.

Broan QS2 Allure 30" ---- the three aluminimum spring clips that are riveted inside back of the hood are broken. They are designed to hold pressure against the frame of the hood vent filters. Where or how do I obtain these three clips either online order or dealer with parts?

PK2229 blower stop working

Light and fan are two separate functions in your hood. The fan gets very greasy from the cooking. The grease doesn't act as a lubricant but as dirt. Remove the fan from the unit and check to see if the shaft is wiggling,or if it is seized. At this point you may need to replace motor. If it turns somewhat put a few drops of oil at the shaft, both ends if possible, and spin the fan by hand until it's loose. Replace back into hood and see what happens. Many times the bearings in these fans go dry and will not spin. GOOD LUCK FRIEND.

Tip

The green fan-level indicators will operate properly but the fan/light will not...

Hi Mertl, I sure hope you found the solution since, but I am posting the answer for other people like me (and you) who need to find it !

The service manual says:

To replace the fuse:
1. Disconnect power at service entrance.
2. Remove filters, bottom panel, light wire harness, and air chute.

The fuse is actually right behind the fan controls, so to access it you need to disassemble everything that's in the way.

BTW, for anyone wondering if it's the fuse that's faulty, here's a clue:

If the fuse has opened (blown), the green fan-level indicators
will operate properly when the fan buttons/switches are pressed
- but the fan and lights will not turn on.

The fuse is a 5 x 20 mm, 10 Amp, Fast-Acting, 125V (min.).

Good luck all !

Brian range hood model CJD130SS fan light on display flashes with fan off or on.

I believe that's the "change or clean filter" indication. Clean the aluminum filters in the dishwasher, replace the charcoal filters if non-ducted, press the fan light over 3 seconds and it should reset.

The fan in my has not stopped working in a few weeks now.what can I do to make it stop blowing air

test this steps and fix it. God bless you

1. No power to the range hood
Make sure there's power getting to the range hood. Check for a tripped circuit breaker or a blown fuse. Check the wall socket (unless the hood is hard wired) for power with a voltmeter or by plugging something else in.

2. Fan switch
If your range hood only has a fan and no light or any other features, it won't start with a broken fan switch. Replace the switch if found defective.

3. Fan motor
If your range hood only has a fan and no light or any other features, it won't start with a broken fan motor. Replace the motor if found defective.

Fan turns on and off since turning hood light on a few days ago

If it is a Broan, there is a delay button that was also depressed. It will turn the fans off after a few minutes. If not, then you're shorted out either in the control panel or the wiring in the range hood.
