How do i fix apaper jam on ahp deshjet 450

The paper path in that model is relatively simple.

Remove all paper from all trays, feeds, etc. If you have a can of compressed air, gently blow into the printer, and blow into all corners.

It is possible that your photo-optic sensors, which tell the printer about paper levels and jams, etc., are covered by paper dust, and blowing it out completely will clear the problem.

Once you have cleared the optics, put some paper into the inbound tray, then print a short but complete page, and see whether it goes through. If so, you have solved the problem.

If not, you must look inside to be certain there is not actually a piece of paper, no matter how small, blocking the paper path.

Once you have made sure there is nothing at all blocking it, power the printer off, wait a minute, then back on, and test the printer again.

If none of this helps, contact HP - they are extremely good about helping their customers with their products.

Good luck,

My printer5 is telling me it has apaper jam even with paper in also red light flashing ihave tried switching off removing power lead replacing lead and switching on again no joy

Hello there
Ok you can only try.

You may not see a paper jam.

This may work for you, it has worked for many here I given this advice so gave it a try it could work for you. Generally when this happens, something has fallen into the printer, or a piece of paper has been jammed in there.

First step, remove the ink cartridge, and turn the printer upside down and gently shake it, see if anything comes out.

If nothing goes, or you can't hear anything rattling around, get a piece of cardstock paper (60lb or heavier) and gently push this through the printer, to see if it will help push out what might be stuck in there.

And gave the rode that the ink slides on a good clean and maybe a bit oil on cloth and wipe the rod with it.

Also clean The purge unit, called a spittoon assembly in an HP, Lexmark, Caonon and other inkjet printers, is where the print head assembly parks when not in use, also its other job is to clean and make sure the print head is clean and open for printing.

That is where you'll find the print head assembly parked on top of it.
It also has an electrical pump to milk the print heads and test for ink flow.

So clean all under where the heads are parked and on IP6600D models you can take out the heads just by clipping them out, and then clean well.

Please come back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one so I will keep on helping.

The paper keeps getting jammed. what does it need? does it need a cleaning or is it normal for it to get stuck often?

Short answer, No.
It shouldn't be getting jammed. Sometimes it's caused form damp apaper and also the paper trays guides are not quite set up correctly.

Paper jam and toner message - no paper jam and new toner

I had the same issue. With the two amber lights. My brother found something and it worked. We looked for it again to give credit and I can no longer find the source. I was not the one to think of this, but it has worked for me so I think it is worth sharing. Look for my solution here:

What has happened to it? Did it have apaper jam? Let's try a simple reset first.

Turn off the printer and unplug it.
Open the paper jam door and gently roll the paper roller forward until it clicks. close the door.

Leave the printer unplugged for a few minutes then plug it in and turn it on and try it out.

If this does not solve your problem, you may need to reinstall your software. If you do not have it, let me know.

Did you open up the unit and check really closely near the carriage and the roller? Jams can be so very small!!!
