Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

The wash cycle works. It beeps to indicate cycle is over but when I open the door. All of the water is still there. I tried turning it off, then on again, tried drain only, spin etc. The motor sounds like it wants to work but cant. I have drained it by hand.

Thanks I will try that. I did find a circular panel on the front. I opened it, and it drained so I assume it is the pump you are talking about. I need to look at it again because It didn't seem like that cap came off.

Where is the lint catch? The cap does not come off.

Im assuming this is a front load unit If so then remove the front panel there should be three screws along the bottom. Remove the screws and the panel will come off. Most front loads the pump will be located in the front and you can remove the front of the pump by turning it counterclockwise. Be careful there may still be standing water in the tub so have some towels ready. Just crack it slightly and let the water slowly drain. Then remove the housing and you may find some debris in the lint catch. Reassemble and try to drain it again. If it still is not draining then you probably have a bad impeller on your pump.

If its a top load then you probably have a bad drain pump or broken belt that drives the pump, or a number different possible issues depending on model. Next time if you post you question with model number then I will be able to give you more specific instructions. I am also available for chat right now if you you wanted to take that route. I would be able to give you part numbers and pricing and also tell you how to check voltages to the pump to make sure its not another issue.

Hope this helps _MJ_

My washer was washing, but then it kept beeping thae sceen says db out of balance tryed to open the door to move the clothes around but door will not open,it's stuck on this cycle

Not sure if you have already figured this out or not, but it may be necessary to shut off the machine or unplug it to get the access you need. I have a Kenmore front load and there are some cycles other then spin, that will not allow you to stop and open the door - water in the drum and washing is one of them.
I have not had to try to open my unit but the above is what I would be trying if you have to get the door open. If the washer is still going, then maybe try to ignore the alarm beep and let it go until it gets to a stage where you can interrupt the cycle

Washer won't work and door is locked shut with clothes inside. Can I get the door open manually?

turn off . turn off power point. Wait 3 minutes then turn on power point. Try blowing on drain pipe then turn dial to spin cycle .
See if water pump is engaged during spin cycle.
Don't know if you can manually open the door
Had a similar problem and found the water pump was not pumping the water out and spin cycle was failing to complete.
Check filter of front loader as well .

Ge dish washer just installed. First run. All lights working but cycle will not start. Error beeps indicate door not closed but it is.

That is exactly what the problem is. There is a switch on the door latch, it is not showing the door is latched. Could be bad switch, loose hardware or not connected,
