Question about GE Profile PFS22MBS Bottom Freezer French Door Refrigerator

1 Answer

We have a GE Profile refrigerator Model # PFS22MBSBWW. We have replaced the condenser fan motor, the mother board/ main control board and the refrigerator/ freezer is still not cooling properly. The refrigerator is cooling better than the freezer. Any suggestions?

Thank you for replying so quickly. Okay, husband says the refrigerator is still clicking like it was before we replaced everything. Also, how would he check the divertor doors?

You are either low on refrigerant diverter doors are not sending enough cold air to the freezer. I think low on refrigerant.

there are several air vents in the back of the refrigerator that blow cold air into the fridge side. WHen fridge is cool enough, the vents modualte or colse and divert cold air to freezer. Fridge should be set at 37 degrees F and freezer at 0 degrees F.

If the air is not cold enough, it means your compressor is kicking off too early or low on freon. If you hear a relay clicking rapidly, it could be low on refrigerant.

Try spinning the evaporator fan motor with your fingers. If the freezer door was left closd it may have rusted on its shaft and be stuck. We need to test the voltage going to fan if oiling its bearing and spinning byhand does not get it moving. Click Here for a service manual=> HERE and here=> GE Artica Test Sheet The fan motor or a relay on the motherboad may also be defective. You should get 12-13 volts DC at the fan motor, Thanks Sea Breeze

I have a freezer on top GE profile arctic fridge. It heated up for 24 hour then went back down and is now hovering at 7 freezer and 42 fridge. What is wrong?

This is a common problem with the GE Artica and Profile. The mother board=> WR55X10942 Main Control Board Compressor start components and condenser or evaporator fans must also be considered in the diagnostics. If you would like to do this yourself let me know and I will be glad to help you go throgh with the testing, Thanks Sea Breeze

If the motor is running, but running slowly, you will need to replace the motor. If there was a problem with the PCB, (control board) the motor would not run at all and you would see other problems with the refrigerator.
Here is a link to the motor.

The fan is controlled thru the main control board located on the back of your refrigerator. Pull unit away from the wall and you will see a metal plate. The board is located there and you will need to replace the board. This is a common problem with the GE's. The board is pricey but better than a new refrigerator. If an appliance company told you the fan was bad you should try and get them to refund the fan. wr 55x10942 is the number you need.

hopefully you have a service warranty. I have had me fridge for two years and have replaced the temp control panel twice thus far. serviceman coming AGAIN on Tuesday because now everything in the fridge is freezing. cna't get the temperature in freezer and refrigerator regulated properly. GE knows they have a problem...something in the computer panel board sticks. I'd give anything to be able to put this on the curb and buy a new refrigerator.
