Upon boot up the logo is perfect for maybe a second and then gets very thin horizontal lines all across the screen. Sometimes the lines are solid and sometimes they are dotted. Sometimes they show up as white dots on a dark image and black dots on a light image. Sometimes they are solid black no matter what the background image/text is. Every once in a great while the screen or a part of it is perfect for a few seconds but then develops the horizontal lines and appears to "fade" a little. I connected a vga cable and the output to my tv is perfect. The netbook screen is usually readable with the lines but occasionally a previous pop up takes a while to fade away. I have done a "factory restore" where it is supposed to format c: and reinstall windows and I have gone to the bios and chosen to load defaults (yes the lines are in the bios setup too). I have also done all windows 7 required and optional updates. I have loaded the Intel GMA driver option in control panel and chosen all defaults. I tried to update the graphics driver for the Intel Graphics media Accelerator 3150 in the device manager and it says it is the latest. I have toggled through the screen outputs (Fn + F2) and it does the same thing in each one. Any suggestions on whether it is the screen or video card or what I can try next??????

You don't update the bios unless you change to a newer processor,
that isn't supported by the version you have, if you find the system
is less stable then before, reflash to the old Bios.

There is no download for a cd or dvd rom, you only have downloads for chipset, graphics, sound, touchpads, ethernet, and a few other things.

Cd, dvd roms, use windows drivers,So you don't have to look for drivers.
There is something wrong with the unit, if you can plug in any other
cd or dvd and see if it works, to rule out motherboard problem.

If it works, you can see if is under warranty or you will have to get a new one.

Any questions, post back.

Click start control panel administrive tools, computer management, device manager scroll down cd-dvd rom drives you might see a yellow question mark ? right click you will have options to update driver, roll back driver,or select properties general troubleshoot, select driver click to reinstall drivers click update driver or uninstall then reinstall if this does not fix the problem it might be a registry problem if you cant see your disk drive in windows explorer
Close all open programs

Click on Start, Run, and type regedit and press Enter
Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

SYSTEM

CurrentControlSet

Control

Class

{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

This folder is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry. Look for any of the following names in the right hand column.

Upper Filters

Lower Filters

Upper Filters.bak

Lower Filters.bak

If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose Delete

After deleting the keys, close the registry editor
Reboot your computer:

Open My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD drives have returned. You may also want to open Device Manager and verify that the yellow exclamation and error code on the CD or DVD drive is gone. or
you might have to physically unplug the leads for this cd/dvd then plug them back this should activate the found new hardware wizard or

you might have to uninstall then restart your computer then reinstall your DVD/CD then reinstall the driver for this device
if your computer came with a motherboard disk the drivers could be on it
click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll down cd dvdrom drives if you see a yellow question or exclamation mark?! or a red x right click you will need to update the driver or
select properties general troubleshoot, select driver click to reinstall drivers click update driver
hope this helps

Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39) Laptop Levono y530, device dvd rw optiarc AD-7580s I tried to uninstall & reinstall it, but...

Give this a whirl:
CD-Rom stops working. After checking device manager you find an exclamation mark on the drive. It doesn't mean the drive is dead. It could be an upperfilter or lowerfilter registry issue that is keeping you from accessing the cd drive.

This fix worked for my client:
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/utils/XP_CD-DVD-Fix.zip

Also, try this fix from microsoft.

CD-ROM access is missing and messages cite error code 31, code 32, code 19, code 39, or code 41.

Try this before replacing the drive and remember that you may have to reinstall some burning software.

Hey guys im having problems with my sony dvd drive. I recently installed windows 7 due to my vista completely turning to ****. I understand that the OS is still new and there is a lot that needs to be...

You may try with these troubleshooting steps.

These steps are applicable for either Windows XP or Vista OS. But you can perform the same in the Windows 7 OS.

Option 1: Try installing Sony Registry Update for CD/DVD Drives:

http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-download.pl?mdl=VGNNR180E&upd_id=2031&os_id=28

Option 2: Try deleting UpperFilters and LowerFilters Registry values as mentioned:

http://support.microsoft.com/?id=314060&SD=SONY

http://www.kb.sony.com/selfservice/documentLink.do?externalId=C299114

http://www.kb.sony.com/selfservice/documentLink.do?externalId=C501168

The exact solution is delete the UpperFilters and LowerFilters Registry values and then restart the Computer.

Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cdrom tsst ts632h is not working

If you know how to enter into your POST level setup you can check to see if the cd rom is being recognized properly by the cmos. It is not uncommon for the operating system to indicate that it "sees" a CD rom especially if it worked in the past.
Another check is to go to Control Panel, System and then to Device Manager tab. Check to see if there is a CD rom identified or if a yellow exclamation is present beside the CD rom. If entirely absent or a yellow excalm is present then you may have a driver problem.
If this is under 1 year old. Contact the manufacturer for advice or an RMA.

There is a exclamation mark in the device manager beside the microsoft ISATAP adapter#5. Should this exclamation mark be here?

No. If you have the driver for it try reinstalling it. If you don't I would delete the device and reboot. This will force the drivers to be reloaded unless they were deleted...If they were deleted and you are not very good in computers, you may need a bit more troubleshooting than on line help.
